Jet Lag
I just touched down to Shanghai this morning around 7am . London is really beautiful... will be blogging about it soon.
Am at work now and am feeling so, so, sleepy. I do not experience any jet lag when I travel to Europe. But when I travel back to Asia, it's terrible.
Really feeling like a zombie now and I just went for food at around 4pm, that's 8am London time. Time for breakfast? Gosh... I really need to get my biological clock back to Shanghai timezone.

Music & Lyrics
I fell in love with Hugh Grant again after watching this show. I loved him during Notting Hill and it has been so long ago. He disappeared a while and now he is back, old, but still looking good.

And the songs in this movie... I downloaded 'Way Back into Love' and am listening to it on my ipod almost everyday. Love it! Classic ***** 5 Star love story!

Breakfast Nasi Lemak
Suddenly, I am craving for breakfast Nasi Lemak.

I used to work in a place where ocasionally, we would get emails in the morning with subject like "Nasi Lemak in the pantry". We always wonder who is so generous to treat the whole company nasi lemak. I missed those times. The only places I could find nasi lemak is at Singapore or Malaysian restaurant, and those are not even close to the types we get back in KL.
I think I will go find some nasi lemak for dinner later.

Wednesday Spotted
Spotted... Hari Rabu selling items from South East Asia at Tian Zhi Fang, Shanghai.
Tian Zhi Fang is a nice place with a combination of modern and old Shanghai. A great place to have a nice meal or just relax with a cup of coffee.
Me, Deisy, Nicole, EC, Keng Fei, Wendy, Winston and KK went there on Saturday for lunch. Here are some pictures taken there.

Happy Birthday Dad!
This is the third year I am not at home celebrating Dad's birthday. Every year when I return home, I see Dad with more and more grey hair. It's heart breaking. I feel so sorry that I am not able to be beside Dad each day as he grows old.
I still remember when I was young, Dad brought me for a morning walk early in the morning with our dog, Don. We reached the end of a cliff and there was a pond below the cliff. I threw stones into the water and Dad told me not too. I asked why and Dad told me a story that a dragon might be living in there. I now know that it's not true but at that time, it was really an enjoyable story for me and sometimes I wish I can re-live that moment again.
I also remember during primary 1, I attended a bon fire at school. When we wanted to leave, the car could not start. Dad has to push the car to jumpstart it and he did it all alone. I could still remember Dad's face at that time. He still smiled while struggling to push the car all by himself. My hear ached now when I think why Dad has to do this alone and no one helped him that time. I would if I could... but I was too little that time.
The happiest moment was when we were staying in Seremban. I remember I used to follow Dad on weekend fishing trips and he would drive us into the rubber estate to look for worms as fish bait. Those were the times and all the sweet memories. I missed those times.
I also remember a few years back, I received a call from Brother at midnight, telling me that Dad passed out. Brother was crying over the phone and I knew that his heart must have ached seeing Dad in that condition. I rushed to hospital. This is also a time that I regretted not being there to hold Dad when it happened.
I remember how Dad sometimes used to panic over some matters that happened at home and made a lot of wrong decision at times, but no matter how many wrong decisions he has made, he is still my hero. I know I may have said many things that hurt him before but I never meant to do so. I hate those people who likes to bully my Dad and take advantage of him because he is too kind. But Dad always says let it be as they will face the punishment of their own someday.
Each time I return home for a visit, Dad would go here and there to buy the food that I like to eat. I remember there was once where I threw a huge tantrum at him and then I cried over it. I was in depression at that time and I needed help. But I know being depressed doesn't give me a reason or rights to scold Dad. Dad did nothing wrong...Dad just kept quiet... I am truly sorry, Dad. I was very wrong.
I seldom call home and even when Mum called, I did not talk to Dad. I am just not used to calling home all the time and I really do not know what to talk if I call home. I always chat with Brother and through him, I knew everything that happened at home. Thats why I do not ask or talk a lot when Mum calls. I cannot break this habit of not calling home. I am sorry. But I know Dad will understand my character and I know that he will not love me less for not calling home.
I know Dad always wanted the best for me and Brother. The best decision I made was to take up ACCA which did not cost him a lot of money. I remember how happy he was were when I shouted in joy that I passed ACCA!
Dad, each time I leave KL, I dare not hug or kiss you in KLIA. I know I will cry if I do that because I feel that I am not being there enough for you. I leave with regrets and a heavy heart each time. I would stay home and take care of you and Mum if I have the choice, but I need to go back to where my Husband is and to make more money so that you and Mum will have a better life in KL.
Dad, the thing that I worried most is your health and your safety. I worried about you each time you are driving on the road. I dare not take another news from home like a year ago where you met with an accident, that is my worst nightmare. Please do me one little favor... drive slowly and safely... do not speed like you used to.

Time flies... I miss you a lot and cried when I think of you and wonder what you are doing back at home. I guess you must be relaxing on the sofa I gave you and watching TV.
Dad, you are 61 years old this year. I wish you Happiness, Good Health and Safety. I will buy you a very big meal on my next trip home.
I Love You, Daddy!!!

Cold and Lonely
Winter is approaching again. Dear Hubby is travelling again... extensively. I am back to where I first begun my journey in Shanghai, cold and lonely. :(
I miss my Hubby... he just left for a 2 weeks assignment in Singapore, and flying to London after that. Each day I will be home alone in the cold, cold room. I miss having him around. It has been sometime since he last travelled. I have gotten used to having him around everyday and watching TV with him.

High Level or Low Level Stupidity
Today, someone sent an email and accidentally included a mail distribution list (Something_ALL_USERS) in the 'To' column. As a result, God knows how many thousand employees received this email which was none of their bees wax at all.
What will you do when you receive this kind of email? Do you:
- Ignore and delete it – it’s none of your business anyway and it’s obviously wrongly addressed to a distribution list.
- Hit the ‘Reply to’ button and politely inform the sender that he had made a mistake
- Hit the ‘Reply to All’ button and tell the sender that he mistakenly included you in the email.
I chose #1, ignored and deleted.
I went to the washroom, to the pantry and then back to me seat. I click on my mailbox and this is what I saw:

30+ unread emails replying to ALL, some telling the sender that he had made a mistake, some telling those who ‘replied to all’ to not ‘reply to all’. Some even replying in response the first email by saying ‘me too… by mistake’.
My gosh!!! I wonder whether is this High Level or Low Level Stupidity. If you see something obvious, why do you still hit the ‘reply to all’ button and compound the mistake?
Right now, these silly replies are either from Asia Pac or Europe. I hope when America wakes up in the morning, no one is stupid enough to hit the ‘Reply to All’ again! Else I will be getting God knows how many junk emails in my inbox tomorrow morning.

Tau Sar Peah
My friend Wee passed a box of Penang Ghee Hiang Tau Sar Peah to my Hubby back in KL for him to bring back to Shanghai for me.
I could not remember when was the last time I ate this back in Malaysia and I totally forgot the existence of this delicious biscuits. I took a bite of it and don't remember it tasted so good before... I fell in love with the Tau Sar Peah.

I almost finished the whole box in just a few days... and I refused to let my Hubby eat it... haha! My next item on my to-buy list when I return to KL... Ghee Hiang Tau Sar Peah!
This is not a paid post... I am truly in love with my Tau Sar Peah now. Mmmmm.... it tasted so, so good! Thank you Wee... for giving me this unforgettable gift. :)

Nanjing Trip - Oct 08
Nicole put up a night at my place on Friday and we woke up at about 6am on Saturday morning just to be sure that we reach the train station on time. Me, Nicole and EC left for Shanghai railway station at 6.45am and waited for Keng Fei and Wendy at the train station. We boarded the 7.43am train and headed for a 2 hours journey to Nanjing.
Once we reached Nanjing at around 9.45am, driver Zhou was there waiting for us. Driver Zhou was a really nice person and I thank Fei Manager for helping us with the transport arrangement. It really made our trip so much easier!
Picture taken at Nanjing train station.

First place we went to was to fill out tummy and we headed to our first destination, Xuanwu Lake. For those who has been to Hangzhou’s West Lake, there is no comparison here. Xuanwu Lake is just another normal lake to us and since I have seen the best in Jiuzhaigou, no other scenery amazes me anymore. But we had a lot of fun taking pictures here with EC’s new Nikon D300 camera. Since this is the first time he is using it, he has not learnt about the functionalities yet.
Here are some pictures taken at Xuanwu Lake.

We checked into our budget hotel before heading to 1912 for lunch, a place which is similar to Shanghai’s Xintiandi. Hotel only cost us RMB200 per room, very cheap, clean and tidy. Here are some pictures taken at 1912.

After lunch, we went to the Presidential Palace (总统府) to explore the headquarters of past emperors and later, the Nationalist government. This is probably one the few places in China where the flag of the Republic of China (Kuomintang) still flies.
We took a lot of pictures here...

After visiting the Presidential Palace, we went to Confucius Temple (夫子庙). Initially, we thought this is a temple, but then we found out that this place is like Shanghai’s Cheng Huang Miao, where it is a place full of restaurants and shopping. There is really a Confucius Temple where it used to be an examination center for Jiangsu province.

We took a subway to the final place for the day, Hunan Road Pedestrian Street (步行街), where we had dinner. After dinner, we walked back to hotel and shopped a little along the way. We were all very exhausted by the end of the day but me and Nicole still went out for a hair wash at 10pm that night because the hotel we stayed does not have anymore hair dryers to spare.

Day 2 started off with an early McDonalds breakfast before heading to the Monument of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre (江东门南京大屠杀纪念馆). This place memorializes the hundreds of thousands of Chinese who died at the hands of Japanese during WWII and features the excavated mass burial site.
It’s kinda scary in there and at one time, all of us had goose bumps. I believe this place is truly haunted with all the unrest souls who was raped and killed during that time. Harrowing but worthwhile as we get the chance to understand the history. Did not take photos while inside the monument because we are not allowed to.
Our last destination was Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Mausoleum (中山陵)located at Purple Mountain. Since we have purchased the entrance ticket, we walked up to the top where the tomb was. Exhausting… and the weather felt like summer when it’s supposed to be cooling autumn!

Since we need to make sure we get to the train station by 4.30pm, we headed back to the city, had lunch and went to Nanjing train station. Took a couple of pictures here before boarding the 4.27pm train heading back to Shanghai.

When we reached Shanghai, we contacted Winston who was still busy working on a Sunday for dinner. We had a sumptuos Vietnamese cuisine for dinner.
Overall, the fun part of this trip is not about Nanjing city… Nanjing is not a place where I will make a second visit, unlike Beijing. The best part about this trip was traveling with my friends. We laughed a lot and experiment a lot with photo taking. It was really enjoyable.
