Only Mother Knows

I have stopped blogging for sometime, mainly because I felt lazy. I also didn't want to blog about my pregnancy just in case (tai kat lai si) if anything bad were to happened. See, I am carrying monoamniotic twins. They called it Momo twins (monochorionic, monoamniotic). A pregnancy so rare that it occurs like 1 in every 65,000 pregnancy. Both babies are in the same sac, and both umblical cords are in such close proximity. There are risks of cord entanglements and compression, which could be fatal.

The reason I write this today is just to express my feelings. I am now in week 24 of my pregnancy. Everyday, I could feel both my babies moving inside me. Sometimes, I will gently tap on my belly and they will respond with some kicking and punching. It's so, so amazing. I cried sometimes feeling them and I guess only a mother knows how it feels to be feeling them inside.

So it makes me wonder... some people can be so disrespectful to their parents. Some don't even bother to visit home. I just wonder... how sad can a mother be, when she recalled the happy times when this child was moving inside her, and only to have such an attitude after they grow up, spread their wings and fly, not looking back. Sad, isn't it?

Will be visiting my gynae tomorrow and I pray that everything will be fine. I have 10 more weeks to go before they reach 34 weeks gestation, which is considered full term for momo twins. PLEASE, PLEASE, let them make it through another 10 weeks smoothly without any issues.

Everyone's dreaming about it

Today, I went for lunch with my ex-colleagues. From a venue of Sunway Pyramid, to Subang Parade, in the end, I went to the shops nearby my ex-office for lunch. What to do, these bunch of people so busy until no time to eat! Anyway, it's good to catch up. I only see them once a year and by next year all of them would have probably left this company.

While I was driving home, I tuned into MY.fm and the topic was about dreaming to get rich. I really laughed my heads off. One guy said "Want to fat-tat so easy meh? But let me dream about it also I happy liao..."

Everyone is dreaming about getting rich, including myself. Sometimes I can really imagine myself kena 1 million lottery and I get really happy just by dreaming about it. Siao-lang! Sigh... cannot fat-tat but no harm dreaming about it right? Wish I had a money tree that grows money!!

Last weekend I was at Pavillion and I realised most of the young girls are carrying either a Gucci, LV or Burberry. Wow! Kids nowadays are really rich!!! I couldn't afford one until after I went to SH for work and earning more there. Even so, I bought my Gucci from Italy at a much lower price. Gosh! Sometimes I wonder how everyone can afford these desginer labels, including my brother's gf who has multiple genuine LVs and my cousin sister who owns a few Gucci and Burberry.

Exactly how much money is enough leh? One guy said on MY.fm that he don't need millions to be happy. He just need enough for his family to stay healthy and happy and safe, then he will be satisfied. I remembered a friend onced told me that if he has 10 million, then he will retire. Wah!!! 10 million!! Like that work like a cow till when only can retire wor? Give me 1 million and I will be damn happy liao, no need 10 mil.

Money is forever no enough one... right? Now I work like a cow and save, save, save... also don't know for what. Since young we have been taught to save for rainy days. Guess I am saving for this reason. Sigh... how I wish I could just spend all that I earned... arrgghh!!

It's a Miracle!

Wow! I can't believe it! This morning, I went to the pantry and I see this:

My dead plant is alive and growing healthy now!!! It's a complete new plant. I don't intend to bring this back to my desk, else it will die again once I touched it.

Am serious. I don't know what's wrong with myself. The plant from the next cubicle crept into my cubicle. It should not have move that close to me. Look what happened to it....

Take a closer look to what has happened.... the leaf is dying!!!

OMG!!! Yeee.... I am a plant silent killer....

I am a Murderer

I have previously blogged about a beautiful plant I bought from Ikea and how proud I was to place it on my workstation.

I remember blogging about not having green fingers and that all plants will die under my hands.

I was right. My plant is now officially.... almost dead!

I really don't know what to do with it. I asked the office plant supplier and they told me this plant is called 'Thousand Arms Buddha' and it need to have plenty of sunlight and very little water. So I took the plant to the pantry and placed it beside the window. I even asked the office cleaner to help me look after it. She looked after many colleague's plants and they all grew healthy and beautiful. But not mine. Why? Why? Why?

I think I will never, never, ever, buy another plant again. They will all die... I don't want to murder another living thing.

I am so sorry... dear plant... rest in peace. Amitabha.

Can I be a good leader?

Last Saturday, I went out with Elizebeth DL and we talked about our assistant. I recently have a new assistant and today, another person joined my team, making it 2 assistants for me.

We complained a bit about our assistant, their tardy work and bad documentation, bad english, etc and I told Elizebeth DL that I end up being their assistant instead for spending time correcting all wrongs in those documentation.

Today, I talked to my Hubby about being a leader. My Hubby was rated as one of the best leader in the entire firm, beating hundreds of other senior management's rating. I asked him what did he do to get that kind of rating.

He told me that one thing about a good leader is to know how to share and to know how to help your subordinates improve themselves. It is important that one can approach you easily when they face problem in their work and you have to guide them on how to solve it. Not helping them solve it, but guide them. Teach them. He gave an example of me having to amend the work of my assistant; He says that if I do not guide her to improve on this, she will never be able to help me. If I managed to help her improve on this, my life will be much easier in the future.

He is right. All the time I was afraid that if I teach her so much, then she will overtake me. But I never think of how she will make my life easier if I just managed to guide her on how to improve work and I will never have to spend so much time correcting those mistakes in the future.

I put myself back in the shoes where I was a junior, and I realised that I love to work with those leaders who are really willing to teach me. Why can't I walk the same path as my previous leaders? I was so silly.

So I have drafted out a job allocation sheet, and team goals and have decided to have a meeting with my team to share my thoughts. It is also important to get their feedback and support to what I want to do so that everyone shares the same goal.

I now believe that I can make my team one of the best team in my organization with quality work & deliverables. I want to achieve this. Will I make it?

Would you give your boss....

Would you give your boss....

a Bally leather belt?

or a Liuligongfang Chinese glass ornament?

or a crystal bracelet?

Crystal bracelet may be cheaper, but China's famous Liuligongfang art glass is not cheap! And Bally leather belt cost a bomb in China!!!

These are the gifts that my Hubby's staff gave him for his birthday. The Bally belt was given by 1 person, not even shared. And that 1 person is a female. Blardy....

Would you give your boss any of the above??? I definately will not!!! I am soooo jealous! Don't know why she gave something that expensive to my Hubby. Hmm... fishy.

What to Wear??

I always have a problem on weekdays… what to wear to work? And especially at weather like this in Shanghai, sometimes hot, sometimes cold… and when it’s cold outside, it’s warm in the office. And when it’s warm out there, it’s cold in the office because they either blast the heater, or blast the air cond. Stupid! It is really very difficult to decide. I have to watch the weather forecast to see how cold or how warm tomorrow will be. Very tough decision.

Yesterday was rather warm. So I wore a low cut to work… so low and so sexy that when I bend down a bit, can see my nen nen. Blardy… give all the cheenamen the advantage of seeing my cleavage. More cleavage to come during summer. Yoohoo to all the cheenamen. Today was blardy cold again, and I wore a vest over my shirt. Looked so conservative.

As I am writing this, my mind keeps thinking what to wear tomorrow. Not only will I need to think of what clothes to wear, but I also need to think of what shoes to wear. Not that I have plenty of shoes, but because some heels are higher which make my pants look short, I need to decide what pants to wear if I would like to wear a shoe with a higher heel. Am I very mah fan?? Why girls so mah fan one? Or is it only me that is mah fan?

If I am Samsung's Boss

If I am the big boss of Samsung mobile, I will sack the person who designed the SGH-U600 phone. I bought this phone back in KL and fell like throwing it away. I wish someone would steal it from me so that I have an excuse to buy another phone.

Why I hate this phone:

  1. Task function does not have alarm feature. WTF!!??? You mean the phone cannot remind me of my due task??? KNNCCB!!! What stupid phone is this????

  2. The touch pad is too close to the navigation pad. Each time I typed long long messages, if I accidently touched the cancel button, my whole message is gone!!!! Never even prompt whether to save or not! What a stupid phone!

  3. Again, the touch pad is too close to the navigation pad. When I scroll to view pcitures, if I accidently touched the cancel button, again, everything gone and I will have re-enter to view pics again. Stupid phone!

  4. No themes to download. This phone only has one theme and I cannot find any other themes for this stupid phone! You mean I have to face the same theme for as long as I am using it? Sien lar!! Anyone who knows where I can get new themes for SGH-U600, pls let me know.

  5. Cannot choose which number to SMS. Example, I typed a message and I input a contact from my address book. If the contact has more than 1 number stored, I cannot choose which phone number to SMS to. WTF????!!!

So... DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!! Lousy! Lousy! Lousy!!!!! Samsung Boss... Please fire the brainless shit who designed this phone!! And also fire yourself for approving it! KNN!

Saloon manager earns RMB46,700 per mth!!!

My friend Nicholas sent me this piece of news today. Below is an excerpt of the article:

SHANGHAI Portman Ritz Carlton has been ordered to pay 356,000 yuan (US$48,108) compensation to its former beauty salon manager, sacked this year for allegedly stealing 750 yuan.

The Jing'an District People's Court today announced the verdict for the compensation, and said evidence the hotel showed to the court was invalid.

The hotel asked an overseas investigation company to look into the manager, identified as Li Shengshi by the court, after it suspected Li of stealing.

Li, 43, began to work for the hotel as a stylist in August 1997 and became vice manager of the beauty salon in 1999. He was promoted to manager of the salon in 2002 with an average monthly salary of 46,700 yuan.

An average monthly salary of 46,700 yuan??? That's RM23,000 per mth!!! WTF??!!!! If the saloon managers in KL knows about this, all will be flocking to China! I am really, really underpaid now! I should consider changing jobs.

I wanna Pengsan!

I told you that being in China makes me gets agitated real easily. But I really have good reasons for being so.

Today, I was in a training. When we go for training, we either switch our cellphone to silent mode or meeting mode, right? If you can't do both, just turn the damn thing off! I can't belive these cheenas... such a simple rule also don't know?? Why must they allow their phone to ring in the middle of the class? And worse... they pick up the phone and talk right there and then!!! Where are the freakin' manners!!??? Why so bodoh one???

AIYOYO!!!! I really PENGSAN!!!

WC Phobia

For all girls reading this: Have you ever enter into a toilet with many people, then went into one of the cubicle just to find the WC lid closed? For me, if I see this, I will usually walk out of that cubicle and go into another cubicle where the lid is not closed. I don’t want any surprise once I open the WC lid. I don’t want to open the lid to just to find some gross and shitty stuffs inside. Yulks! But sometimes when there are many people in the toilet, you have no choice but to open up and discover what lies beneath.

I remember once in a hotel washroom. Very clean… very posh washroom. It was a night of function and many people are using the washroom. So happen I ran into bad luck and entered a cubicle which has a closed WC. It looks clean, so I opened it just to find it full of shits. Yulks. Bagga who did a big job and didn’t even bother to flush! So I closed the lid and flush it. Just when I flushed, water started flowing out from the WC. Yeeee….. its was stuck!! I shouted and quickly ran out from that cubicle. Other girls were looking… so malu. I hope they don’t think that I was the one who bangsai. The water flew out and made the toilet so messy. Not my fault, I was only trying to flush it. Not my bangsai also. KNN! Blame it on the girl or woman or ah mah or whoever who did that. Darn!

I have phobia of opening the WC lid in a public toilet now. I dare not touch anything in the toilet. I will usually use many layers of tissue paper or open the WC lid using my feet instead of my hands. I just wonder is it just me or any other girls also feel the same way as me?

Back to reality

I'm back from my holidays. Sigh... time travels much, much faster when you're having fun. It's so sad to be back to reality, waking up and going to work again.

I have so many blogs to catch up with. It has been a tiring week for me, but it was worth it. I'm still feeling tired now. So sleepy... so lazy to come to work. My mind is still in Paris and Rome. Maybe I am still sleeping. Maybe it's just a nightmare of me being at work now. Yeah... rite. How I wish I can have a never ending holiday.

*SLAP*SLAP*

Wake up! Time to work, earn and save money again for my next holiday.

*Back to life... back to reality...

Ghost Umbrella?

I have been missing for a while from blogging. But I didn't stop reading blogs and commenting. Reason being, I was pretty busy at work and I was sick at the same time.

Last Thursday, I bought a colorful umbrella, something that look like this:

The same day I bought it, I fell sick. High fever that night, followed by sore throat and coughing.

On Sunday night, I couldn't sleep and I dreamt that there is a ghost in my house. It was a man. He took the umbrella and tried to stranggle me with it. I woke up with heavy sweating. From Monday night till Wednesday night, I couldn't sleep well. There seems to be something there, disturbing me when I tried to sleep. I dunno what, but I was guesing that it may be the heat.

Yesterday, I told a few friends about this and all of them asked me to throw the umbrella away. My hubby freaked out when I sms him about it and he asked me to get rid of the umbrella ASAP. I did as they told me to. I placed the umbrella inside the lift and just left it there. I supposed someone will take it away, afterall, it was a brand new, nice umbrella.

Last night, I had a very sound sleep. I slept thoughout the night without waking up until this morning. My sore throat seems to be much better.

So.. is there really a ghost in my umbrella? Is this coincidence, or superstitious?

Grandma Got Possessed

My grandma passed away in 2004. I remembered I was in Bangkok for work at that time. When I heard of the news, I was feeling sad for the whole day. A few months before she left this world, something terrible happened. She got possessed. I wasn’t there at that time, but I managed to get my cousin sister, Yen, who was the first witness to tell me what happened that night.

To read the entire story, go HERE.

Toxic

Toxic... I love the song by Britney Spears. But this post is not about the song. It is about Friends. Throughout my life, I have met many different types of people within my circle of friends. Some are sincere, whom I love most. Some are hilarious, some are darn serious, and some are just simply toxic.

Toxic friend I've had during school days... a girl who loves to boast. She loves to show off, and she loves to belittle others. She loves to talk bad about a person to others, and we all know she did it on purpose coz she wants the group to dislike the other person. Pure toxic. I remembered we all knew whats happening, but no one talked or discussed about it because we didn't want to spoil the group friendship. Things got worse during college times. She is so fake! Her lies of another person became so obvious that things just exploded one day at a party. She was confronted face on right in front of many people and she blew everything. It was pure silence... an awkward situation which I think most of us there could recall.

Toxic colleague that I've had during work. During lay off times, she cleverly told every junior scary stuffs about the layoff plans (as if she knows). Those who fall victim will quickly look for job and quit. She also passed our names to head hunters... her motive... to get everyone out so she could stay in the job! Pure toxic... very smart too.

Toxic boyfriend that I've had... those who two-timed me. Those are bloody bastards... 'nuf said.

Toxic friends in Shanghai, so far, None - Thank God. But I am sensing one coming. She is a new girl in Shanghai, blended in well in the group. But she is so, so fake. I am not sure if that's really her character, if that is, she is damn childish. If not, then I am right... darn fake. She asked questions... smart, indirect questions. She tries to dig info like how much we are earning here. So what if we earn more or less? What has it gotta do with you? With her attitude... no wonder she couldn't find a bf. She's not young. I am not trying to be mean, but it's true. If she doesn't change, every guy will be afraid of girls her attitude, unless those really itchy guys.

Well... if these people are toxic, I can be too... but I won't. It's not me. I will just be friends... but nothing other than plain friends. But if you continue to make use of me and take advantage of me this way... I'm afraid I'll just have to ask you to fuck off!

Most of you will think that I am nuts to write this crazy stuffs. I'm not trying to complain, but I'm a life blogger. I wanna read this 20 years later and laugh about it. Thats' all.

I Don't Understand...Why?

This morning, while in the subway heading to work, I came across another 2 incidents which I really do not understand why the people here practice it.

A girl was quarrelling with her bf over the phone and she was speaking so loudly that I think the everyone in the carriage could hear. Wah... she really fierce! Goodness, don't we wanna keep all these confidential conversation to ourselves? Why can't she feel the shame???

This incident then reminded me of another which I encountered last month. Same thing... a guy was talking on the phone with his gf... and he was asking her things like.. "so now.. you choose me or him?".. stuffs like that. This is really not the first or second time I encounter this in Shanghai. I don't know what these people are thinking, but I think its rather rude to shout so loud over the phone in a public area and its rather shameful to have the whole world listening to your conversation.

The second incident that happened this morning: A man from the end of the carriage shouted! I thought what he was shouting about and I was thinking that it must be another chinese quarrels starting. But it's not. He was actually talking to another person who was standing like... 15 or 20 feet away?? What??? Why can't he walk over and speak to that person? And that person actually responded and shouted back his answer... it was in Shanghainese so I couldn't understand what they were saying. Damn! What on earth are these people thinking???

Now that I have mentioned, few weeks ago, I saw a girl in the subway. She was using a blackberry phone... something like that. She was wearing a long skirt. And you know what she wore on her feet? I think it was something like our fluffy, furry, slippers that we used to wear at home. It was pink! I was asking my hubby: Did she forgot to change the slippers on her way out, or did she wore this as a fashion???

She was wearing slippers like this!

Don't you think people in China are weird??

A Story of a Girl

Today, I want to tell you a story. Please don't relate this to me... I am only telling a story of a Girl.

This story starts with some American 'people'... earning USD. They went to Shanghai for a holiday and stayed at a relative's apartment. The apartment belongs to the main character in this story... the Girl. Fine. No complaints from the girl because they are family. They messed up her entire place. Fine. No complaints... family. They messed up her bathroom... toilet bowl got stuck and they did nothing. Fine. The girl called the maintenance guy and he fixed it. Of course, the girl has to pay for it. Ok... no complaints... family, right?

Then, these US people, they wanna go Beijing. They wanna go climb the Great Wall of China. The girl's Hubby paid for the trip using his credit card coz it was an online payment. It cost RMB7,500++ (thats about USD1,000) The idiot so-called American Man of the Family, never even bothered or 'pretend' to ask the girl's hubby how much is the trip and never pay them a single cent for the trip.

Then, they wanna go to Hangzhou to explore the West Lake. The girl's hubby bought the train tickets which cost a total of RMB600. They never offered to pay for it.

Then again, they wanna go to Suzhou to view the beautiful gardens of Suzhou. Again, the girl's hubby bought the train tickets which cost RMB600. Same thing... silent.

Now, question to you all readers out there: What are these people really thinking? Do they think that:

A. The girl's Hubby is a money printing machine??? Or
B. It is their right to use other people's hard earned money???

In the end... the girl had a discussion with her hubby. But her hubby thinks that this is all just a small matter. He says that whatever money spent and be re-earned. True enough. The girl agreed. It is just a small matter. BUT... this story is not about the money. This is a story about character and morale, of having the courtesy to ask, or say thank you, or offer to pay back the cost of something that others have paid for you on your behalf. Sad to say, there are many of these unappreciative people on planet earth. And the US people who went to Shanghai for a holiday are just one of them.

Of Golfers and Bowlers

Which do you prefer? I heard of the following arguments from my friend, who is a bowler and her hubby who is a golfer. Bowlers will never understand why golfers golf. This one's for the bowlers:
  1. We have an air-conditioned environment.
  2. Golfing under the hot sun - are you crazy??
  3. We throw the ball away, and the ball comes back to us automatically.
  4. Golfing - you hit the ball... and yet you have to walk around and search for the ball? This is insane. What is really so nice about golf??
My other golfer friend, gave me the following arguments. This one's for the golfers:
  1. Golf is a unique game. Why? Read on...
  2. All other games has a fixed environment. Basketball court, badminton court, bowling alley. But golf... its always different. You have different course, different weather, different wind direction, different scenery each time you play.
  3. Golf requires different strategy and challenges the player itself. You have to know which club to use, which driver to use, which direction to aim for, you have to know the wind velocity and direction and the strength you require to hit the ball.
  4. Golfing challenges your patience and reveals the true character of a golfer. You can understand a person's character judging by the way he / she golfs. Some takes it slowly, some just wanna rush it, some are just prudent and some are impatient.
I can never understand why golfers golf... though I used golf too. After hearing the above, I gave it a thought. I find it amazingly true. What say you?
Ah... and a last note. Bowlers should not golf, and golfers should not bowl. You know why? Bowling is a front swing and golfing is a side swing. If you play both, it will spoil your swing. Interesting theory eh?
