Transformers 2

I remember I blogged about Transformers back in 2007. Now it’s time for the sequel.

WARNING *** HEAVY MOVIE SPOILERS IN THIS POST***

Hey, did anyone spotted the Malaysian Airline logo in the very beginning of the movie? I saw it, but none of my friends in the movie with me did.

My opinion of the movie: AWESOME yet DISAPPOINTING!

Yes, it still had my jaws dropped at many “Transform!” scene. However, I find there is an anti climax. The part between Optimus Prime dead until he was resurrected was too long. It took too long for Sam to get to Optimus, resurrect him, and when that was done, we were all geared for a great fight between Optimus, Megatron and The Fallen. But disappointment. Optimus took less than 5 minutes to have both defeated. OMG!! Why spend so much time on human characters running around Decepticons and Autobots when what we really wanted to see was the fight between the 2 great machines? Really ‘potong steam’!

But overall, I still love this movie. Just wished that the final battle should be longer than a mere 5 minutes. Optimus is as sexy as ever… love him!

Notting Hill

I have been kinda mushy-mushy since Hubby left this morning. Satellite tv is down and all I could do was to turn on my pc and since I've got a few London sites bookmarked, I clicked on one marked as 'Notting Hill'. Didn't get the chance to visit this place on my last trip, I must say I do miss London very much. So I decided to watch the movie Notting Hill - online.

A few scenes had me having tears in my eyes; For those who has watched this movie and still remember, here goes:

The scene where William (Hugh Grant) and Anna (Julia Roberts) climbed over the gated park, and then William said: "now what in the world has this garden made that ordeal worthwhile?"
Anna kissed him with Ronan Keating's 'When you say nothing at all" song played. Romantic, and definitely worthwhile for William to climb over the locked gate. This part is so, so romantic!

The scene where hundreds of reporter gathered outside William's blue door apartment, when Anna was about to leave, she said: "I'll regret this forever."
I cannot forget the sadness in William's eyes while saying: "I will feel the opposite, if that's ok by you."

The scene where Anna went to the bookstore to look for William, asking for a second chance. She said: "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."

The scene at the press conference, where Anna requested for a journalist to repeat his question, asking Miss Anna of how long she intended to stay in London.
Anna answered: "Indefinitely"

I have always loved this movie and I must say that both Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant are really good. It's good to rewind myself back to 1999 tonight. Had quite some tears in my eyes and also a lot of laughter watching this.

Slumdog Millionaire

I watched Slumdog Millionaire with friends yesterday. This falls into the category of one of the best movies I have watched.

It really open up my eyes to things which we took for granted in our lives and showed me different aspects of life in Mumbai. The kids in this movie did an incredible job, and I mean INCREDIBLE!! The lead actor, Dev Patel made the movie totally with his incredible expressions and talent. What a performance!!

This movie touched my heart on so many aspects. Not going to say much about it as I don't want this to be a spoiler for those who has yet to watch.

No one should miss this movie. It is truly one of the best movies ever made.

For Love or Money

I was watching episode 32 of TVB’s Gem of Life (珠光宝气). My Hubby really beh tahan Jessica (Ada Choi) and her mum’s materialistic character.

I told him that maybe Jessica is really in love with Martin despite his age (he is older than her father!) and she did not marry him just for his money. My Hubby says bull-shit. All young women who married old fugs are just in love with the money rather that the old man. Moreover, Jessica planned everything out just to get close to Martin.

Now I come to think that this is really the general perception that everyone, including myself have. Whenever we see a young woman with a wealthy old man, we would have instantly concluded that she is for the money.

Could there be any real case where the girl is really in for love? Or is it just money all the time? Could it be that she fell for him because she adores him for his maturity, his intelligence, his sense of humor, etc. Or could it be lust?

Hmmm… I do not know. So far, I have not come across any old man whom I would adore for the above qualities. Not even for the money.

Anyway, I also beh tahan Constance (Gigi Lai) for being such a goodie-goodie gal in this drama. Come’on! Why care that your sister marries your boyfriend’s father?

I can’t wait to see how this drama ends. I hope TVB will have a good and meaningful ending for this. Oh... on the other hand, I am also watching The 4400 series. All four seasons of it. This is really, really good… it’s a combination of Heroes and Lost. Very mysterious and intriguing. Can’t wait for the ending as well.

Music & Lyrics

I fell in love with Hugh Grant again after watching this show. I loved him during Notting Hill and it has been so long ago. He disappeared a while and now he is back, old, but still looking good.

And the songs in this movie... I downloaded 'Way Back into Love' and am listening to it on my ipod almost everyday. Love it! Classic ***** 5 Star love story!

The Eye

Few weeks ago, I watched the movie The Eye. Remember the HK version starring our very own Angelica Lee Sin Jie, where she won best actress for this movie? The version that I watched was the US version, starring Jessica Alba. I don't know why but when Hollywood tries to remake any HK or Japan hit movie or horror movies, they seemed to have failed.

The Departed, which is a remake of HK's very famous Infernal Affairs (无间道) failed miserably. That's my opinion. That movie is just bad. Perhaps I kept comparing it to the originals when I was watching it. The same thing it is for The Eye. This US version is not at all scary. Here is why:
  • Jessica Alba stays in a very modern apartment, and the surrounding is not at all scary. Angelica Lee stays in a old, rundown flat in HK, and the surrounding itself is eerie.
  • The boy who lost his report card - there is something not right about this little boy. He is just not sending chills across. No scary. Maybe it's the bright apartment effect.
  • Remember the famous lift scene, where Angelica could see the reflection of the ghost? Jessica's lift was so modern, that it doesn't feel scary at all.
  • Somehow the hospital was not scary too... again, they made it too modern.
  • They changed the part where Angelica saw a ghost licking the roasted duck in the Chinese restaurant. This was replaced with Jessica in a cafe, with a ghost storming through her (similar to the the part where Angelica was learning calligraphy, and a woman spirit stormed through her). Now this is the only part where I thought it was the scariest.
Overall, this movie truly lacks creativity and everything comes from the original HK version. Jessica Alba should not have taken this role. It's just awful. I truly think that US Hollywood should stick back to their original horrors such as What Lies Beneath, Sixth Sense and The Others. Those who have seen the original movie should stay away from this one!

The Children of Huangshi

Last night, I watched 2 movies. Cloverfield and The Children of Huangshi.

Cloverfield was scary because you could place yourself in such situation and freak out a bit. It was being shot like a documentary or live video but this show is without ending. We just know that the owner of the video cam died, but we do not know what happened to NY or the alien. I guessed all hapus in the end!

Then I watched The Children of Huangshi. This is a terrific movie. I love it. It makes me wonder if I was born in the era of war, where will I be, what will I do and how will I protect my family.

It's a touching movie, inspired by true life events, about how an Englishman, George Hogg, lead and struggle to save a group of orphaned children during the Japanese occupation in China. The saddest part was in the end, when he died of sickness after he had successfully brought the children thousand of miles across the mountain to safety.

In the end of the movie, a lot of old men commented on their experience with Hogg. These old men are the orphans whom Hogg saved during the wartimes. They are all around 70-80 years old now. What they described in the end is truly touching. It really made me wonder how a person can sacrifice his own comfort at home to come to this land called China and help those in need.

Very good movie, highly recommended.

10,000 B.C

Just now, I received a SMS from Elizebeth DL saying that she went to watch 10,000 B.C. Well, what a coincidence. Last Saturday, I went to watch 10,000 B.C. as well. Sibeh movie ticket cost RMB60 per ticket. Thats RM30 per ticket!

I nearly fell asleep during the show. It's so slow... and I was expecting a lot of wild animals in that show. End up only a few gajah looking mammoth and nothing exciting about it. The movie trailer showed like there were many fights with the animals. Tipu one... somemore Elizebeth DL says she cried. I also dunno which part can make people cry. Hahahaha....

I give this movie a C-. Too slow, no action, tipu trailer... no cool jurassic park animals. Not worth my RMB60.

All of 4.0s

First, we have Die Hard 4.0. Bruce Willis is much older... but much sexier. I love him more in 4.0 than in the very first Die Hard movie.

Then now, we have Rambo IV. Yulks.. I never liked Sylvester Stallone. He is so ugly and I think now he is too old for all this Rambo shits. Never liked Rambo anyway.

And later, we will have Indiana Jones IV, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I love Indiana Jones especially The Temple of Doom. I love Harrison Ford, but I think now he's really too old for Dr. Jones.

All these 4.0 movies are so popular these days. And my winner is still Bruce Willis in Die Hard 4.0... he is still so sexy. Haha...
I hope we will not have Sean Connery reliving the latest James Bond. OMG!!!

Another Sibeh Transformer Blog...

Ok, this is SIBEH Sien Monday, and I am blogging about an old topic that everyone has already blogged. I know I am slow, but can't blame me. Hubby was super busy, and movie tickets are darn expensive in Shanghai. I was initially thinking of waiting for those better pirated DVDs to be out and then watch it.

Now, this show, is SIBEH AWESOME! It was beyond my expectation. Firstly, I didn't expect to get to hear the sound effect from the cartoon... the sound when the robots 'Transform'. SIBEH COOL! My friend Leirbag told me that he has this sound as the SMS tone on his hp. Hahaha... cool!

Secondly, I didn't expect to see the robots actually 'Transforming'... the effect was SIBEH GREAT! This is a totally jaw dropping moment for me. Totally unexpected!

Thirdly, this show reminds me of my younger times. And to actually have my childhood cartoon being realised into a movie blockbuster, this is a SIBEH HAPPY FEELING! Total reminiscence!

Wooohoo!!..... I think I'm gonna watch it again, despite the very expensive movie ticket prices in Shanghai. It's RMB80 per ticket, equivalent to RM40. Expensive or not? Yeah man... SIBEH Expensive!!

Guisi - Silk (2006)

Last Sunday, I watched a movie called Guisi (Silk - International English title). It's a sci-fi thriller about a paranormal scientist who captures a spirit of a murdered child ghost. Determined to learn the secret behind the ghost's past, the scientist enagages a team of experts. However, towards the end of the movie, a terrible energy that threathens to destroy them all was unleased. That's where the scary part comes in play.

I find this is a very sad ghost movie. My heart sank as they unfold the history of the murdered child. Sad.

To top that, I have written A Sad Ghost Story, a true life encounter of a late family member, whose soul cries at night... a very sad one. Go HERE to read it.

HEROES

I just completed watching the 1st season of Heroes. AWESOME!!!

This fiction is really, really good and kept me glued to the couch! The last episode was so intriguing and the beginning of volume II just left me wondering whats gonna happen next. I can't wait for season 2!

This is my favourite Hero:

Ali Larter as Niki Sanders. I think she's really sexy!

One of Isaac Mendez's paintings:

Save the Cheerleader, Save the World!

As I am writing this, LOST is airing on AXN. Pui-Pui! Will never watch this boring show again!

Perseverance and The Land Before Time

Perseverance, is a matter of holding on and never let go during trying times. I Love this word.

The Land Before Time - This 1988 original animation is my favourite cartoon of all times (please don't mistaken this to all the other terrible sequels). It is about four orphan dinasours travelling the ruins of their world, while grieving the loss of their families and banding together to face the odds of the world. They encounter many obstancles as they learn to work together in order to survive. I cried from beginning till the end. It was a truly emotional movie that thought us about perseverance, about teamwork and most importantly, about holding on to our dreams and never let go.

I was watching American Idol last night and one of the contestant sang the theme song from the The Land Before Time. This song is called If We Hold On Together, by Diana Ross. Being an emotional person as I am, I cried when I heard that song. It brings back memory of that movie, the hardship, the loneliness, the obstabcles, the betrayal that Littlefoot went through to find his dreams.
(Littlefoot is the main dinasour character in The Land Before Time). I cannot forget how Littlefoot's Mum lost her life to protect her son. But Littlefoot's perserverance brought him to realise his dreams in the end. I am glad that it's a happy ending.

When the world says, "Give up,"
Hope whispers, "Try it one more time."
~ Author Unknown

Anyway, here a little clip of the theme song, for those who have not heard of it. It's a truly meaningful song.

If We Hold On Together
Diana Ross

Don't lose your way
With each passing day
You've come so far
Don't throw it away
Live believing
Dreams are for weaving
Wonders are waiting to start
Live your story
Faith hope and glory
Hold to the truth in your heart

* Chorus:

If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
Where clouds roll by
For you and I

Souls in the wind
Must learn how to bend
Seek out a star
Hold on to the end
Valley, mountain
There is a fountain
Washes our tears all away
Worlds are swaying
Someone is praying
Please let them come home to stay

* Repeat Chorus

When we are out there in the dark
We'll dream about the sun
In the dark we'll feel the light
Warm our hearts
Everyone

If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
As high, As souls can fly
The clouds roll by
For you and I

James Bond aka 'Tou San'?

I do not understand why Dear Hubby bought an original VCD of 007 - Casino Royale from Speedy Video while we were back in KL when there are loads of cheap, uncensored DVDs on sale along the streets of Shanghai. I guess Dear Hubby has itchy fingers kua... long time didn't buy DVD / VCD from KL.

Ok.. we watched that movie. Though I have no idea who the hell is the guy playing
Agent 007, but I must say he did a pretty good job. What irks me is the gambling plot. This reminds me sooo much of Chow Sing Chi era of 'Tou San', 'Tou Sing', 'Tou Hap'... and whatever more 'Tou' you can think of.

Why?? It doesn't make sense. No one can predict and win like that other than Chow Sing Chi! No one can 'sai-lang' like that other than Chow Sing Chi! Hey... they stole the 'Tou San' idea, didn't they? Tsk tsk tsk.... none at all original!

I want my Chow Sing Chi on that table... and I bet he will beat
007... Flat!
