The New Me

I was so bored on Thursday that I went for an extreme hairdo after work. Well, not really too extreme, just changed of color. I am so sick of the fading of my hair color to a lighter and lighter shade that morphed me into looking like an ah lian.

Here's me in the making of new hair color.

I went to office on Friday and my hair was the talk of the day! People were shocked! Even during lunch time they talked about hair styles and hair color. Many can't take the change, or just simply couldn't get used to seeing my new hair color.

But I love it this time and it's gonna be sometime before I visit the hair saloon for another coloring. Here is the new me....

Wahaha! My hair is officially... Black! Back to nature!

Holiday is always too short

One week is just like a blink of an eye. I was on the flight back to KL, and then I was on the flight back to SH again. :(

I miss my parents, I miss shopping with them and I miss going to night tai pai tong to makan with them.

This picture was taken from my condo... each time I look at this, I feel like I am back home. Ahh... nostalgia.

Went shopping with my parents at Sunway Pyramid and took this picture in the 'sotong' room where we bought the tit-bits.

Went to pasar malam on Friday night. I can't remember when was the last time I went to pasar malam. Then we went to the tai pai tong food court. It was great! I ordered kangkung sotong, laksa, marmite crab, satay and chicken wing. Really good. I am missing those food and feelings.

Dad, Mum, I miss you and I miss home. :(

A Fun Gathering

Last night, I met up with Eric, Elizebeth DL, Eileen and Kenny Ng at Secret Recipe, Sri Petaling. This is the first time I met Kenny and he looks a little bit different from his pics. He is much better looking in person!

The first thing I saw when I reached was a whole lot of chocolates on the table. Kenny brought these back from Dubai.

Kenny gave me a Dubai souvenir... thanks Kenny, it's really sweet of you! Sorry I takda Shanghai souvenir.

For some reason, we started exchanging namecards. Why eh? Seems like we have known each other for quite some time liao. But guess who works for TNS co? We laughed when we saw this and you can guess why:

Here's Kenny and Eileen with me.

I ordered my all time favourite tomyam noodle and finished all the soup.

Here's Eric.

We shared 1 chocolate banana cake for dessert, but we were all too full to even finish one piece of cake. I had my Oreo milk shake which was really filling. Fattening too. Regret ordering that.

We had a really good chat and talked about cameras. I almost lost my mind again and wanted to get the Panasonic camera, the one that Kenny was having. Eric asked me if I need him to slap me and prevent me from spending more hard earned money. Thank you Eric. I have come to my senses and did not buy that camera. :)

How to spot a blogger? Easy... when you see people taking pictures of everything... like this:

We talked about handphones too and arranged all the Sony Ericsson phones on the table.

We had a lot of fun talking about the life experiences in SH, Dubai and Malaysia. We talked about going places and about our country, its' economy, politics, etc.

It was a really fun gathering.

Eileen: You didn't change. Still the same fun Eileen whom I know in SH, except that you are slimmer and prettier now.

Kenny: It's rare that we have this chance for meeting up, since we are working in different countries. It was nice to have finally met you in person. Take care in Dubai!

Eric: Remember, 080808 is gone now. We are now waiting for your big day in 090909! Take care my friend!

Elizebeth DL: See you back in SH! I know you can't wait to go back. Hehe.

Everyone's dreaming about it

Today, I went for lunch with my ex-colleagues. From a venue of Sunway Pyramid, to Subang Parade, in the end, I went to the shops nearby my ex-office for lunch. What to do, these bunch of people so busy until no time to eat! Anyway, it's good to catch up. I only see them once a year and by next year all of them would have probably left this company.

While I was driving home, I tuned into MY.fm and the topic was about dreaming to get rich. I really laughed my heads off. One guy said "Want to fat-tat so easy meh? But let me dream about it also I happy liao..."

Everyone is dreaming about getting rich, including myself. Sometimes I can really imagine myself kena 1 million lottery and I get really happy just by dreaming about it. Siao-lang! Sigh... cannot fat-tat but no harm dreaming about it right? Wish I had a money tree that grows money!!

Last weekend I was at Pavillion and I realised most of the young girls are carrying either a Gucci, LV or Burberry. Wow! Kids nowadays are really rich!!! I couldn't afford one until after I went to SH for work and earning more there. Even so, I bought my Gucci from Italy at a much lower price. Gosh! Sometimes I wonder how everyone can afford these desginer labels, including my brother's gf who has multiple genuine LVs and my cousin sister who owns a few Gucci and Burberry.

Exactly how much money is enough leh? One guy said on MY.fm that he don't need millions to be happy. He just need enough for his family to stay healthy and happy and safe, then he will be satisfied. I remembered a friend onced told me that if he has 10 million, then he will retire. Wah!!! 10 million!! Like that work like a cow till when only can retire wor? Give me 1 million and I will be damn happy liao, no need 10 mil.

Money is forever no enough one... right? Now I work like a cow and save, save, save... also don't know for what. Since young we have been taught to save for rainy days. Guess I am saving for this reason. Sigh... how I wish I could just spend all that I earned... arrgghh!!

The Difference

About 2 1/2 years ago, it cost me between RM65-RM70 for a full tank of petrol. Since I left KL, I 'kuasa' the car to my brother and he has been using it till now. I took the car today and I realised the tank was empty. I was like... niasing... my brother left me with an empty tank. But can't blame him, petrol so expensive nowadays. He told me that he only filled RM50 each time he goes to the petrol kiosk. I think he must be 'boh-lui' to fill full tank.

I went to the petrol kiosk and started filling in. I wanted to stop at RM50, as I will only be using the car for less than 1 day. But then, I thought I better top it up for my brother. Wah... it was just less than 3 years since I last pumped petrol... now a full tank for the same car cost me:

Expensive oh... !

Splurge!

Do I have to spend like this each time I come home????? Someone please slap me and stop me from spending more hard earned money!!!

I bought a Coach leather sling bag. Do I really need one? No!! Then why buy? Coz I like it...

I bought a Nokia E71 for my Hubby. Does he really need it? No!! Then why did I buy it? I just want to give hubby a little something coz he was complaining about his phone. I guess it's ok to buy this because it's not for myself. I am happy to give this to hubby when I return to Shanghai. Am sure he will love it. He better!

Food, Stuffs and Money

Had some of my favourite food... namely pan mee. I tried a new pan mee stall in Serdang Perdana near my house. They sell all kinds of pan mee style and even had one chilli pan mee like the famous Jln TAR's. But the taste is far behind Jln TAR's. I have yet to have my favourite Jln TAR pan mee. Will find one day to visit that stall.

I went to Din's Cafe at Cheras to have my favourite malay food. I had sefood tomyum,

Sambal udang petai... this is really delicious...

Telur dadar & kailan ikan masin, both a must haves for me whenever I have malay food...

And taukeh Din's recommendation of ikan siakap limau. We ate everything... semua habis, including the nasi. It was really good.

Before I came back to KL, I was thinking of not buying so many food stuffs this round. But who knows, my bags are now full of food stuffs. I really don't know why I bought so much when most of the barang can be found in Shanghai. Ok.. not all. I can't get Hup Seng's Ping Pong brand cream crackers. I bought Old Town White Coffee for EC. I bought some Alif brand kari nyonya paste and Uncle Sun's bak kut teh and chicken herbal soup packet. I also bought a lot of cosmetics. Sigh... each time come back sure used up a lot of money.

I went to post office to claim the road tax rebate. I made the claim for 2 cars. Went to pejabat pos Sri Petaling and I must say that service is pretty efficient.

There is a clear instruction displaying the steps to make a claim. I filled in the forms and took a number.

I have about 14 numbers ahead but I only waited for about 5 minutes for my turn. Good! The guy who serviced me is efficient too and he did things really fast.

Within 5 minutes, I got my RM1,250.00 cash for spending... muahahahahah!!!!

MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!

Wooo... We Lost

Lee Chong Wei just lost... and it's an ugly lost. Thank God I'm in Malaysia and don't have to go to work tomorrow. Else I don't know how to face my colleagues.

Lin Dan was too strong for him, and damn 'chuin' also. Tossed his racket and shoes to the audience. So smelly, yeee... he thinks he's Jay Chou.

Good job to Chong Wei for getting this far and congrats for his Silver medal. At least he is half a millionaire now.

Home Sweet Home

I am back in homeland, Boleh-Land. It's the place I called home because I was born here and my parents are here. I have already attacked Mum's home cooked chicken rice. Fantastic as ever! I hope I can control and not eat too much, else my hard work dieting for the past 2 months will go down the drain.

I will home for a week and this will be a very relaxed vacation for me. It's all about makan and shopping and watching TV with my parent. Will probably go watch a movie with them on Tuesday.

I also wanted to get another nice handbag. Gucci's latest are too wild and flowery for me. Coach sent me the latest Bleecker collection catalogue and I love them.

But I was thinking to get something different, maybe I will go check out Longchamp or Burberry. Shopping time tomorrow!

Olympics Opening Ceremony

I am not sure how many watched the Olympics opening last Friday, but I had myself glued to the TV from 8pm till 2am. I have never watched any Olympics opening ceremony from beginning till the end as I thought they were all boring with all the normal dancing by girls and boys dressed in colorful attire. But it was different this time. Simply because I am living in China and this is the homeland of my ancestors, and because I love the work of director Zhang Yimou. I was amazed at the beginning part of the opening where they did the countdown using the lights from the drums (not sure if those are called drums). As expected, director Zhang Yimou loves to use lights for an amazing effect.

FYI, China television broadcasted the opening preparation documentary as well as the press conference to interview the group of directors, namely the famous Zhang Yimou. That was truly the interesting part as I get to know who, what, why and how they did this and that.

China broadcasting editor is a stupid asshole. And why do I say that? I don’t know about broadcaster all over the world, but what we see from China television does not truly show the beauty of the opening ceremony.

First, we did not get to see the total stage area where the welcome words are projected.

Next, the historical picture scroll part was entirely focused on the middle, whereas we are supposed to see the full picture to get the idea of ancient art.

The most attractive part of Zhang Yimou’s work of art for this background effect was completely omitted. The broadcast asshole focused entirely on the dancing girl in the middle. No wonder I was falling asleep during this performance.

The effect of the thousands of scholars. On television it was all on closed up angle and we don’t get this effect.

This is the saddest of all. I don’t remember seeing any part of this beautiful peach blossom. None at all on television!!

Again, the part where the historical picture scroll has failed to be shown on television. The synchronization of the tens of thousands of kung fu master was truly an amazing piece of work. I did not see this total picture on TV. It was such a waste!

The thousands of smiling faces which was not shown on TV.

The fireworks displays of Olympic logo at Tiananmen Square.

Many Chinese complained about the China broadcasting company for failing to broadcast the best of the Olympics opening. When I was watching the opening on TV, I complaint to my hubby on why the camera was focusing on the audience and the closed up of the performers, whereas this is truly an amazing work of art to be appreciated in full view. If director Zhang Yimou reviews this version of his art from television point of view, I think he will be very sad.

A Relaxed Weekend

This weekend is a very relaxing one for me. I stayed home, cooked some simple dishes, watched the Olympics, packed a little to prepare for homebound next weekend.

I bought some O.P.I nail lacquer few weeks ago and did my own nails this weekend.

Not bad huh. Good brand proves to be better. I can easily apply them on my nails evenly without smudge and streak. And they are shiny as well. I used to buy a lot of cheap Korean brand nail lacquer, but realised the huge difference now. I need to apply a top coat to make the Korean ones shine, but as for this, I don't even need to use a base or top coat, though I did buy them. But I will never buy those Korean brands again.
