Beijing's CCTV Tower

I went for a stroll around Beijing CBD area, where during the Ming Dynasty era, this entire area was a deer hunting ground.

I spotted this and took some pictures... CCTV tower (China Central TV) - famous as a tourist site because part of the new building was burnt just right after they completed it. Mandarin Oriental Hotel was also the victim... just completed renovation and about to begin operation.

Here is the picture of the burnt building.

On close up... it was really badly burnt. According to reports, the fire started from a fire cracker. Thats why the entire exterior was badly burnt.

The other block of CCTV tower which was not burnt. Thank God... this is an amazing structure and if this was burnt... really cialat!

This is the China World Trade Center Tower III. The tallest building in Beijing standing at about 330m tall. Cheh... kecimiau... nothing compared to Shanghai World Financial Center aka The Bottle Opener.

I also spotted this at the corner of the street; interpret this as you wish:

Best Bakuteh in China

Yesterday, I went to try out a new bakuteh restaurant in Beijing, claiming to be authentic Malaysian Bakuteh.

Ok... I must say... it's the best bakuteh I've had in China. Of course... it comes second after my own bakuteh which is no doubt the BEST!! Muahahah! No other bakuteh in Shanghai restaurant could match this.

Even the presentation is similar to those that we find in Malaysia. The taste could not match those good ones back home, but it's good enough for people living abroad who wants good bakuteh. I will say that it's even better than certain bakuteh we find in Malaysia.

We ordered a lot and all habis makan. This was the second bakuteh I had in Beijing, the first one was own cook bakuteh last weekend, and that was still the best! Heheh.

Now I know where to go for a good bakuteh in Beijing. Yay!

First Weekend Out in Beijing

Over the weekend, me and Hubby went to explore several places in Beijing near our home area. First, we went to a place called 'shi shui jie'. A one-stop shop for whatever you can get in Shanghai's Xiangyang market, SH Ke Ji Guan, Shanghai Pearl Market, etc. all housed under one roof. Very convenient and it's near my house.

We also went to some pet market coz Hubby wanted to get a dog. But we didn't get one coz I think it's too much trouble taking care of an animal when both of us are working.

I was trying to look for some Malaysian food and found a Singapore restaurant called Lau Pa Sak. The same Lau Pa Sak in SG selling hawker food.

I must say the sambal fish cakes are pretty good. Very tasty.

The restaurant was near Sanlitun bar street so we went for a stroll along that road after dinner. Not bad... this place has quite a number of bars along it and some pretty good shopping malls.

In the middle of the shopping mall area, they have this fountain thingy... which reminds me of Seoul. It's like an open air water fountain for kids to play around and get themselves wet... :)

Nice Apple store logo illuminating the area... very artistic.

Sanlitun Village... not a bad place to visit at night for those who visit Beijing.

These Children Should Be Strike by Lightning

"SIN Chew Daily reported that an elderly couple in Singapore who gave up their duplex to their son ended up homeless after they were chased out of the house by the ungrateful offspring.

The couple now call the staircase of a school their home.

The man, who was named as Lim, was a manager before he retired. He had a son and a daughter who lived in Jurong, Singapore.

Relating his ordeal to a secretary of the school, Lim said he and his wife decided to give their duplex home to their son as a wedding gift about two years ago.

The couple thought that they could live in the house with their son. He, however, decided to sell the property for RM960,000 to buy another condominium. Lim and his wife were then sent off to live with the daughter.

After a year, the daughter decided that they were no longer welcome and banned them from touching her children.

The couple could not enter the house after their daughter changed the locks to the house."

New Place, New Beginning

Finally, I have relocated to Beijing, my new home. I cried the day I left Shanghai, knowing that I will miss all my friends, colleagues and the city itself. Not sure whats ahead in life for me in Beijing. My stuffs have all arrived, some still unpacked. I am still looking for an 'ayi' to do the cleaning and washing.

The apartment that I am living is so huge compared to the one in Shanghai. I don't really like huge places... seems empty and depressing. The surrounding is pretty good though, with shopping malls and restaurants around.

I went to office in jeans everyday this week. I have been so busy with housing stuffs and what makes it worst is that I have a new project on hand, working with US folks. I am required to work at night for conference call and I don't even have time to iron my clothes.

Just taking a break at work and thought of updating my blog. Have not been updating or reading blogs or even Malaysia news lately. Anyway, I have given up on reading homeland news.

Farewell Meals

I had 2 sumptuous meals last Saturday as part of my farewell party. I treated Shanghai buddies to Golden Bull lunch buffet with a huge selection of cuisines, though of not really high quality. As usual, we always end up over-eating at buffet, and it's not exception this round with the large selection of food. Here are some pictures taken during lunch.

We had lunch from 12pm – 2.30pm and then headed to (as usual) Party World for K-session. We sang and danced like crazy fellas.

We went back to my place after K-session coz the girls wanted to get some DVDs and magazine from me before I throw them all away. Around 7.30pm, my buddies treated me to a nice, sophisticated dinner at AFuturePerfect. I had my most memorable dessert here, hot chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream... yummy!!!

Bye bye Shanghai!! I will miss all these fun I had with my Buddies. Memories remain, and they will always be here in my heart, and my blog...

I Will Miss Shanghai

Feel so lazy blogging nowadays. Maybe because I get to tired connecting to VPNs and Proxies to access FB and Blogspot. Blardy China blocking all these sites!

I have approximately 1 week left in Shanghai. Here are the things I will miss most in Shanghai:

  1. My shanghai friends and buddies
  2. My shanghai colleagues
  3. Room 603, Block 5, Regents Park
  4. The elevated highways of Shanghai
  5. Shanghai skyscrapers
  6. Dim Sum at Royal China
  7. Shanghai 小亭麻辣烫
  8. Party World
  9. Jiu Guang @ Jingan Temple
  10. My office @ Shanghai City Center

Last night, I treat the team to Ma Boon Krong Thai restaurant. Love this team and I will miss all of them. I will miss lunch time laughter with them, the project arguments, excursions, etc... *SOB*SOB*

Preparing to Move

My apartment looks like this now... in a big mess.

After 3 1/2 years in Shanghai... I am finally moving away. Not sure if I will be back again in the future. I never thought that this day would come so soon. But I will be starting life anew in another exciting city (hopefully).

I will miss everything, everyone here very, very much! *Sob Sob!
