Fooled

I was fooled on April Fool's day. Nothing big or fantastic, but it's enough to get me excited.

I received a MSN message from Steph telling me that our PM resigned! And there was a link. My first reaction was to reply... wow!!! Really??? Then I clicked on the link that she sent. The link brought me to page and says... APRIL FOOL!!! @%$%$#!!

I almost forgot April Fool's day coz in China, seems like they don't really care and no one really played any prank.

Anyhow, tomorrow is Qing Ming holiday in China and I will be off to Venetian, Macau. Yoohoo!!!

This picture was taken at SH Flower Port. Pineapple. Nothing new to us, but perhaps its something that the Chinese don't see so often (I think). Thats why they display this inside the greenhouse.

Today is the last day of first month post go-live closing. Last night I worked till 9pm to make sure that finance submitted the reports to US successfully. I plan to go off 6pm sharp today. Going for K-Session. *Happy Hour* :)

More pics from EC

Here are more photos from EC's camera. His photos are so much nicer, I'm not sure if its his camera, or his skills. I just love these... the first pic here is one of my favourite!

These 2 pics below are taken with a ring in front of the lense. Looks so romantic... hahaha.

EC took so many candid shots... he is so artistic. I love 'em all! It's so natural...

I think I need to develop some and paste them on my office cubicle... :)

Shanghai Flower Port, Nanhui

I went to the Shanghai Flower Port at Nanhui today with Elizebeth DL, Winston, Hooi Hooi and EC. It was darn windy and darn cold. I was freezing!

This place is full of colorful tulips and daffodils! They are so beautiful!!! We went there a bit early as not all the flowers are in boom. But because Hooi is only here for 2 weeks, so we went there before she returns. Here are some of the pics I took.

I love this pic that Hooi took. It's so artistic:

Before we head back to Shanghai, we went to take some photos at the wind energy field. We can't really stop to take pictures but we did a quick one...

It was a really good trip. Freezing cold, but worth it. It's something that we cannot see in Malaysia.

10,000 B.C

Just now, I received a SMS from Elizebeth DL saying that she went to watch 10,000 B.C. Well, what a coincidence. Last Saturday, I went to watch 10,000 B.C. as well. Sibeh movie ticket cost RMB60 per ticket. Thats RM30 per ticket!

I nearly fell asleep during the show. It's so slow... and I was expecting a lot of wild animals in that show. End up only a few gajah looking mammoth and nothing exciting about it. The movie trailer showed like there were many fights with the animals. Tipu one... somemore Elizebeth DL says she cried. I also dunno which part can make people cry. Hahahaha....

I give this movie a C-. Too slow, no action, tipu trailer... no cool jurassic park animals. Not worth my RMB60.

Training @ Oracle

I was at training the past 2 days at Oracle Shanghai office. As I worked for this company in Malaysia, it gave me the nostalgic feeling. I feel like I went to Menara Citibank again as I walk into the office and saw the big sign...

Some of the views from level 32 of the Harbor Junction building.

One more day to go for my training. I have been receiving phone calls from office for some issues back there. Bagga... cannot even concentrate on training. But best thing is can go off at 4pm. At least I get to shop a little and then enjoy more time at home. Hehe... But I forsee a mailbox full of emails when I get back to work on Wednesday. Yeee.... I hate.

A simple gratitude

In my previous post, I mentioned that I received recognition for my hard work. Though it's a lousy gift, but I was still happy that my boss and my company appreciate my hard work. Today, I returned the appreciation to 2 other person in another part of the world.

My project involves people from US, Ireland, India and of course, China. The developers are all based in India and throughout the project, I have been pushing them to deliver what was needed. I did fire out a few nasty emails to their bosses because sometimes I was darn pissed with their slowness and unresponsive attitude. Irregardless, they did deliver everything to me on time before the code-freeze deadline. They are indeed very helpful.

I sent out an email of appreciation today. I sent to the 2 India developers who worked on my technical needs and copied their boss. I mentioned that without their hard work and effort, we will not be able to deliver what was needed on time. I thanked them.

One of the developers sent me a message to thank me for the email. He said it was really motivating for him. He was really happy that his hard work is being recognised. I realised it's really easy to keep the team working happily. Just a simple email of gratitude and recognition which took me less than 5 minutes to draft and hit the send button. I am happy I did that, because I realised that small doings like this, really does made someones day.

Recognition

For the past months, I have been sibeh hardworking. I have put in a lot of effort into my project and have been working late almost everyday to make it a successful one. The project finally went live on March 1st, within budget and on schedule.

Today, there was a recognition award at my company's monthly employee meeting. My effort was recognized and I was being awarded with a gift.

I told my hubby and the first question he asked was did I get a Tag Heuer or something like that. I told him how I wish... it was just a lousy watch with a company logo on it, which I will never use. How I wish I am being awarded with money instead... haha.

My Hubby says it does not matter what I get. What matters is the recognition. I guess it's true. Though I will not use this watch, but I feel happy that my boss appreciated my effort. It really gave me a lot of motivation to continue putting in effort into my job.

We went for karaoke to celebrate the end of the project, and also a beginning of another. Phase 2 of the project is starting soon, and I'm glad that I've laid a good foundation from Phase 1. I will continue to pour in effort in the next phase. Well done to myself!

I miss my Mum's cooking

I was checking out on my 2008 CNY pics and I came across the pics I took on CNY eve. It was my Mum's yummy cooking for the reunion dinner.

Now I'm really craving for home cooked food. I'm drooling. I miss home. And I don't think I'll be going home so soon again this year.

This morning, my brother called me and told me that Dad is not well. He feels dizzy and experienced some chest pain. I asked brother to bring Dad to hospital immediately. Brother told me that Dad has already went to see the 3rd specialist. Everything tested and everything seems ok. Doctor gave Dad some medicine and asked him to rest at home.

I panicked today. I was so worried. That's the major disadvantage of being overseas.... I am not there when family needed me. Thank God my brother was there to take care of things. I called home and Mum says everything is alright and my Dad is ok now.

I pray for my Mum and Dad's good health. Please don't let anything bad happen to them. I love them very much.

My Blog is Dying

I think my blog is dying. I have been busy with project go-live last week. No time to even read blogs except for Maverick's Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin to keep me updated of what's going on back home. Maverick... your blog is like newspaper to me. Thank you!

Now that my project has completed, I think I can start to update blog and read blogs again. But I still have many issues to take care of after the go-live period. Darn!... as I wrote this, just received a phone call for some issues. Need to work on them as soon as I finished writing this.

To all my fellow blogger friends... I will make sure I catch up on your blogs this weekend. Don't loose hope on me. Hahaha! Ciao... need to run. A line up of stuffs to do.

Pyjamas

See the picture above. I took it at HongQiao Parkson just below my office. It's a common sight in Shanghai. Women and men love to wear pyjamas and go walking around the city. This woman even went shopping in her pyjamas. I think she is wearing leather shoes somemore.

Sometimes, I really don't understand. I am not sure whether they know it's a pyjama or they just love to wear the pyjama, or they are just too lazy to change baju and wear the same piece to bed, to shopping, then back to bed again at night. Safe time on tukar baju.
