I am blogging this on behalf of Shopaholicfern. Her blog is as good as dead and she is darn busy with all stuffs and nice things in life. Lazy bum she.
Fern stays in Malaysia, in a smaller city near to KL. Few weeks ago, a new Chinese family moved in directly beside her house. Their house is a double storey semi-D link house type, 30 x 60ft.
As Fern put it into words, they are suckers and inconsiderate bloody cuckoos. During weeknights, the kids (all 3 of them) like to play badminton and catching at 11pm-12mn, making damn blardy much noise by screaming and shouting... and sometimes at the driveway which is right next to her room. As for the parents, every weekend nights, they will invite friends over to play mahjong and have makan-makan... and this mahjong and makan session takes place outside the house at the driveway and garden instead of inside the house.
They always play past midnight and sometimes up till 2am. In addition, these sakais will take off their shirts, and in Fern’s very own words again, she wouldn’t mind if they are sexy guys but they are all blardy old and sagging late 30 and 40s.
Last Sat, Fern beh tahan and called the police. After the police left, their friends left too. But then, they went into the house and blast the amplifier and watched movie pulak.
Fern is being pushed to the limits and she is thinking of selling off the house and move elsewhere. And since these neighbors are uneducated village people, Fern is worried that if she calls the police too often, they might harm her and scratch her car.
So she needs some advice. What will you do if you are in this situation?

no matter what... you're in someone else's country... tread carefully.
on the bright side... they might just be enjoying their new place... once they get over it... normal business resumes... i think.
I have similar neighbors. They live at 45 degree in front of our house. Weekends, all the sons, daughters, grandchildren will come back and they will played mahjong, speak loud loud, laugh hysterically til 2am and the kids also sleep very late screaming and laughing til 2am too. EVERY SINGLE WEEKENDS in the past dunno how many years.
There is no solution to such matter. You can only endure, or, if your limit is way off, then, sell the house and move else where.
p/s: lately, guess all the kids grown up already and they seldom come to visit the old couples and played mahjong only when there is big festival.
p/s: Fern is consider lucky, her neighbors only showing the sagging body upper part. My this old neighbor ah gong, he weared boxer and come out of house sweep leaves ok... imagine me, growing up in such sexual environment! (I believe he didn't wear any underwear underneath the boxer!)
haha Fern...I bet not good to call police first. Perhaps you should talk to them first. If they couldn't understand only take further action.
Not to make it too ugly, as you are staying alone.
Fern can sue the neighbour for Nuisance under Tort Law. She should do it; it is damn effective.
Why is it that Fern stop blogging? I was puzzled.

Min Hui: Yes. I used to have such neighbours and I did talked to them. But my neighbour are educated and civilised people. Fern says her neighbour are village people and she is afraid.
Maverick: Oh.. there is such law. But if you sue your neighbour, how can you cope living next to them? They are bound to give her more trouble. Fern is super busy with her MBA assignments.
Since they making noise in midnight, then she can making more noise early morning, I'm sure they are still sleeping that time due to blasting till late night.
Just kidding la, she got right to call police often until they stop it. No point to move away which mean they won if she moves away.
Aiya, ask Fern to engage me to do the assignment lah.
Oh, don't worry about the neighbor after you sued them; normally, they would start behaving or else, there's is contempt of court.

I did call the police, now they are behaving better, i hope they continue to behave.
If their "hantu" behavious starts again, i will make sure i hire a lawyer...well, that's cheaper than moving out, right?

I'm terribly busy with work assignment and taking care of myself and my doggie...i totally have no time to blog...but, i will blog soon, after i've adjusted to my really tight schedule :-)
The police cannot do anything. I see all polices as useless bunch of retarded persons! My opinion, sell the house and move.
