Origus

I just had my lunch at Origus. Origus is a localised, small Italian near the place I work. I ordered spaghetti aglio olio and sauteed shrimp coctail.

This is my spaghetti... cost only RMB9 (RM 4.50 only)

Sauteed shrimp coctail. Cost RMB16 (RM8 only)

The taste not bad. Of course, can't compare to real Italian la. And they are damn cheap, ok. I spent a total of RMB25 for my lunch.

And just in case some of you have not seen a China's official tax receipt, this is it. Yes... looks like our lottery ticket. You can scratch at the right stub and if you're lucky enough, you will kena prizes. I have gotten a few times, mostly cash prizes of RMB5 and RMB10. Not too bad right?

China is Mad at Yahoo!

Seems like the Great FireWall of China has banned Yahoo.com. This happens after Yahoo scolded China on some rights issue.

Now, the entire China could not access Yahoo.com and Yahoo Mails.

Kekkekke..... what the heck!

A Happy Meal

See this cute chef...

I was at the foodcourt for lunch and this chef greeted me with a sweet smile. I ordered cuttlefish teppanyaki.

When my food was served, she asked me how was the food, whether it was ok. I told her that the cabbage was a little salty. Then she asked me if I wanted a replacement. I was like " huh??" But I told her it wasn't necessary.

Then I saw her cooking the cabbage again. She served me the cabbage again and asked if it is ok this time. I tasted it and I told her it was good.

WTF was that????? All these while I have been complaining about services in China and today, I got this wonderful treatment from the people working in the foodcourt???? WOW!!!! I think I will kena lottery today!!!

I Could Read Blogs!

Yes!!! I can read blogs now... thanks to Google Reader.

If I have not updated everyone, China has yet again blocked blogspot. I dunno what this silly country is up to. They allow us to enter blogger.com but disallow us to read at blogspot.com. KNN!!!

Though I can go through anonymous sites, but the client environment and firewall has prevented anonymouse site... double KNN!!!

So now, I can read blogs using Google Reader but I can't comment. Will have to browse from home to comment.

California 101

Last Saturday, me and Dear Hubby went to California 101 for dinner. This is a seafood buffet dinner which cost RMB188 per person (Approx RM90).

This is my second time there and the restaurant is HUGE! It's like a large wedding banquet hall with lotsa foods around, in the middle, corner, left and right, everywhere! Most of the food there are good. They have from Italian to Japanese to Hong Kong dim sum, but the main attraction was of course all the fresh seafood.

Here are some of my favourites:

Some sort of clams

Fresh prawns!!!

Baked cheese prawns

Grilled oysters

But they also have some very dissappointing food, like:

.

.

.

Some miserable nachos

Tiny mantis prawns that looks more like insects

A very ugly grilled salmon fish head

The very tiny abolone in the abolone soup

And some not so well-endowed pie

They have a wide variety of desserts including choc fondue. Overall, it was not bad at all.

New Contract @ Tesco

Today, I started a new contract at Shanghai Tesco. Shanghai actually has no Tesco stores. But they acquired a local hypermarket chain and so I am sitting in their office today to help them implement an internal system & process. I will be here for 3 mths, and hopefully after that I can rest again and make another trip back home.

When I was in Malaysia, I did a job for Jusco stores. The office here resembles so much like Jusco's office - Rundown. I do not understand why they placed so many plants in the office. There are mosquitoes flying around and they are really irritating.

Thank God I am sitting in a rather strategic location. My back is against the wall.. which means.. hehee... no one can see what am I doing. That's why I can blog!

I wanted to take some pictures of this place, but better not as I don't wanna be seen cam-whoring around on my first day of job here. Hey... they pay me to work, not to cam-whore!! Anyway, managed to capture a pic of a plant next my desk. Here:

I also realised that I can't go through anonymous site to browse blogspot. Damn it!!! Meaning I can't read blogs!!!!! Arrrgghhhh!!!!!!!!!!! KNN!!! Here goes the beginning of my 3 mths' ordeal. Wish I can sit at home and watch Desperate Housewives.

Trying Out Western

I felt reluctant to blog about this, but figured it would be a good laugh when I read this 20 years later. I hope anyone reading this will not laugh at the picture of my homemade western food.

I spent half a day yesterday preparing for the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Both taste good.
This morning, I made the pork chop. Thought of making chicken chop but couldn't get a nice boneless piece of chicken thigh. So, opted for pork chop instead. Easy and save the hassle la!

So, this is what the end result looks like:

Aiyah.. I know. Doesn't look appetizing at all. Like I've said, I think only the mashed potatoes and coleslaw taste good lor. My Hubby didn't finish everything. I don't blame him, he is not a western food person. He is a rice-pot (fan-tong). He needs rice. Hahah.

Well, at least I tried. Now I know my skills are better at preparing chinese food than western food. :)

HEROES

I just completed watching the 1st season of Heroes. AWESOME!!!

This fiction is really, really good and kept me glued to the couch! The last episode was so intriguing and the beginning of volume II just left me wondering whats gonna happen next. I can't wait for season 2!

This is my favourite Hero:

Ali Larter as Niki Sanders. I think she's really sexy!

One of Isaac Mendez's paintings:

Save the Cheerleader, Save the World!

As I am writing this, LOST is airing on AXN. Pui-Pui! Will never watch this boring show again!

Working Out

Phew! I just burned 239.6 calories. Not a lot... but better than nothing. Need to start workout and cut down on the fats I accumulated during my 2 weeks break in KL.

Guess what... I went for an interview yesterday and realised that my working pants became so tight. Damn! I really put on a lot of weight eating all those food back home.

I cam-whore a bit at the gym. Since its a weekday and no one around, I almost have the entire place all to myself. This is taken at level 1, all the muscle workout equipments.

Some of the threadmills:

Some of the bike thingys and more muscle workout equipments:

The main hall of Will's Gym:

There are also swimming pool, steam bath, suana, yoga classes, spinning classes, aerobics and dance classes available here. Oh... not forgetting a one lane bowling alley. Haha.

Thank God I have the gym located just at the lobby of my apartment. Let's see if I can do this everyday. Anyway, it feels good to have the sweat dripping away... hehe.

Unknown Pasta Sauce

Yesterday, I bought a pasta sauce, thinking of trying it for today's lunch. This is how it looks like:

I do not know what flavour is that as I can't read chinese. I just saw some clams and mushroom, so I was thinking some sort of Aglio Olio taste.

I made it for lunch. Here is the end results, doesn't look good lar.. I am not an expert in pasta.

The taste: no good. It tasted weird. I really can't tell what sort of taste that is as I have never tasted such sauce. I went to check out the expiry date, suspecting that it may be bad. But no wor.. still good. Hmmm... can someone who can read chinese look closer at the picture and tell me what flavor is this sauce?

Dear MAS

Sitting alone before the departure gate @KLIA, waiting anxiously for the boarding time. My flight was delayed for an hour. I remember 2 weeks ago, when I was departing from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur, my flight was delayed for an hour. Today, I am returning to Shanghai and the same thing happened. Dejavu.

Dear MAS, why are your flights always delayed? I remember my frequent flyouts to Bangkok, I always expected delays from you. And most of the time, I was right. There was even once when I was trapped inside the plane for 2 hours. The plane did not take off... and your crew wouldn't let us get off the plane. We almost died. I don't know what happened, but your air condition was shut off for some time. Everyone was suffocating inside. It felt like sauna.

I also recalled the first time I left Shanghai and feeling anxious and excited to return to Kuala Lumpur. Instead of arriving at KLIA at 8.20pm, we actually departed from Shanghai at that time... 6 hours of delay! And all your crew gave me was some silly meal voucher that wasn't even sufficient for a decent meal.

Despite all these disappointment, I still support you. Because you are our Dear Malaysia Airlines. I don't wanna see you go bust. But please Mr Airline... pls do improve on your services, especially in terms of punctuality. Pls help us help yourself. We dont' wanna loose faith in you. Again, simply because you are our one and only... Malaysia Airlines.

Happy Father's Day

Father's Day falls on 17th June this year. Since I am going back to Shanghai on 16th June, I will not be able to celebrate this day together with my Dear Daddy. But I bought him a gift in advance. Me and my brother bought him a reclining leather sofa.

It is not those RM6,000 or RM10,000 hi-tech massage sofa. We can't afford that. So, we bought Dad something which we saw on sale the other day at a furniture mall.

Now, instead of sitting on this antique:

Daddy now relaxes on this while watching his daily dose of soap opera:

One-push button recline:

Just like many other Dads in the world, my Daddy is our Super-Hero!

I Love You, Daddy!!!

Happy Father's Day!!!

2 More Days of Homey Feeling

2 more days and I will be leaving KL again, heading back to Shanghai. I am feeling happy and sad. Happy that I am going back to see my Hubby, and sad that I am leaving my parents again.

After this trip, I do not know when will I be back at homeland again. If my schedule permits, I wish to come back as frequent as can be.

I will miss my family :(

Poslaju Boys BOLEH!!!

I am writing this now, in the late evening so that I can write this with a calm and cool mind. If I am writing this in the morning, all the KNN, CCB and Tius will be all over this post.

Earlier last week, I was waiting for the Poslaju delivery boy for an important document sent by my ex-employer for me to complete my 2006 tax clearance. The delivery boy did not turn up and all I received was a notice saying that I wasn't home, requesting me to self-collect the letter from their office. I was puzzled. I purposely did not go out and waited at home for this thing. Nevermind, I went to collect it anyhow.

This week, my mother-in-law told me that she sent something to me on Monday for me to bring back to Shanghai. The parcel should arrive by Tuesday. So, I am expecting not one, but TWO deliveries from Poslaju... one is the Direct Access credit card replacement and another from my mum-in-law.

Today, is Wednesday, 13th June 2007. When I open the front door this morning, a notice fell on the floor. I picked it up.

This notice says that the delivery boy was here on 8th June 2007 and could not deliver the letter. If he was here on 8th June, why am I only getting this notice on 13th June???
Please note that the note was not in my post box. It was slip between the door gaps. I would have noticed it immediately when I open the door.

I called up Poslaju and they say the delivery was made on 8th June. I called up Direct Access and confirmed that they sent the item out on 5th June and should reached me on 6th June. I suspect the bastard delivery boy did not do his job.

I called my mum-in-law and asked for the tracking number of the parcel she sent. I called Poslaju again and was told that the parcel was delivered yesterday,12th June 2007 and there was no answer at the door. KNNCCB!!! This confirms the bastard did not do his job. I told the person over the phone that I did not get any notice on yesterday's delivery. I told her.. "you punya delivery boy curi tulang la!" She just laughed.

I went to collect both item from the bank and the parcel at the Poslaju office this noon. I also made a complaint but I doubt they will improve on this. I bet the notice for the parcel will only arrive at my house either tomorrow or the day after.

Here is what I suspect those bastards did:

  1. In the morning, they do their jobs by sending all the letters to offices.
  2. Then, they don't care about deliveries to residential.
  3. They went home to sleep or to fuck some girls.
  4. In the evening, they return all the parcels and letters (supposed to be delivered to residentials) back to the office marked as undelivered.
  5. Few days later when they have the free time, they went to those residential areas and slip those 'Unable to Deliver' notice at our doors.

Those irresponsible bastards! If I have not called up to check on the parcel sent by my in-laws, I will need to make another trip to the Poslaju office. My stomach was full of fire this morning. Fucking irresponsible bastards!!! They really BOLEH!!

I need some English lesson ...

I went to Mid Valley today, as my Mum wanna buy some ingredients to make some chilli for me to bring back to Shanghai.

When we reached there, there was a couple getting into their car. So, we waited for the parking lot. We waited for a very long time and I was wondering what the heck are they doing in the car for so long and not reversing.... hmmm... seems like she is giving him blowjob. Nah.. just a joke. But please-la! If you are going out soon, at least give us some signal so we will not wait there like a stupid fool. This stupid couple... we didn't want to wait and proceed to look for another space.

We found a good spot and headed into Carrefour. My mum happily went to the chilli section, grab a plastic bag and start selecting her chilli. Then I asked my mum.. what are you doing??? She didn't realise the plastic bag was bocor at the end! All the chilli she selected was back into the big tray!! Hahaha! My Mum so silly!!!

When we were at the payment counter, I spotted this notice on the trolley:

Hmmm... I was looking at it for some time and was trying to analyse what is the meaning of it. Maybe I am slow a bit, but I think it meant, the trolley cannot be brought out of the supermarket. But it didn't sound right. Can somebody tell me if this sentence is correct??? If yes, then it's me lor... if not, what should it be??

SMART Tunnel

Yesterday, news of KL flash flood were all over the media. I was so tempted to blog about it and question the effectiveness of our dear SMART tunnel. Many people are saying that it is a failure and the reasons given by the govt that it was incomplete was just an excuse. Personally, I was very, very confused. Was is really a failure, or was it really incomplete?

After reading Kenny Ng's blog on this same topic, I trust his words. I decided to write this so that my Malaysian friends, especially those working abroad, will still give our dear SMART tunnel a bit of hope. Question is... do we need to wait for another 4 years (for another heavy downpour) to see the results of this RM1.2 billion project?

Let's hope that we do not need to put this tunnel to test. I'd rather no one suffers again (physically, emotionaly or financially) from a disaster of this kind.

Sunday Night Adventure

I did a bit of cam-whoring tonight (learnt this word from Huei, hehe!). The rain stopped and I was bored. I managed to get my parents' ass of the couch and made them bring me to see the 'Eye on Malaysia' - the huge ferris wheel somehwere nearby Titiwangsa, I think. Just as we exit Jln Tun Razak from the SMART tunnel.. darn!!! It was pouring hard! My hopes to experience 'The Eye' was dashed! Ok.. nevermind. I still wanna catch a glimpse of it. My dad drove his 4wd to this place and I got him to stop by the roadside to take some pics. At least I can say I have seen this Eye.

Wah... the Eye On Malaysia... why on earth do they name it like this?? Pictures from another angle near the entrance:

Nice or not? I wonder how much they charge to take a ride on that thing. It is not very huge lar.. very small compared to the other ferris wheels we have all seen from abroad. But since its raining hard, maybe I will experience this some other day. So we left.

I felt hungry and wanted to have some hokkien mee. Where to find hokkien mee under this weather? How to get off the car? My dad says let's just drive around KL for a few minutes and hope that the rain subsides. Ok.. so we pass by near Jln Bkt Bintang.

I forgot the name of this street.. the street across Jln Bkt Bintang, full of pubs. It was starting to flood. See the water running down the street?

I took a picture of this shop near Jln Bkt Bintang, opposite the jail. We always heard that these row of shops are all 'kai tau'. Prostitute nest. There is an advertisement for room rental for RM250 / mth, which I think its a bit expensive for a place like this.

We headed into Jln Imbi and there was a traffic situation there. Cannot be ma... jam on a Sunday night?? Then I found out why:

Jalan Imbi (heading towards Jln Tun Razak) is closed to traffic. We need to take a detour through Jln Walter or Jln whatever... the back lanes to be able to get through to Jln Tun Razak.

We have no choice but to follow the detour into the back lanes to get to the other side. I wanna get to the corner of the street for the hokkien mee. Very jammed, but we finally reached our destination.

This is the shop at Jln Imbi where I wanna have my hokkien mee. Very run down and old eh? I am sure many of you know where this place is. It is just at the corner of Jln Imbi opposite the Honda showroom. We heard some car honk and people standing by the roadside. I wonder what happened and went out to have a look. Kehpoci a bit la...

Flash flood... water in front and cars are afraid to proceed. They are all stopping by the roadside and some are making u-turns. Thats why the cars behind honked. Hmmm... I thought with our SMART tunnel, this is not supposed to happen?? Anyway, dun care la.. my food is here.

Forget about the flood la. My hokkien mee and lor mee is here... eat first.

After makan, we took the SMART tunnel way heading back home. Managed to take a pic inside the tunnel. Once we're out at the KL-Seremban highway, we saw a stretch of cars going very slowly at the lane heading towards either Cheras or PJ. The exit was flooded. What's our SMART tunnel doing again?? Why still flood?

Finally reached home. First thing I saw outside my condo was a big bug on the floor. But I am not wicked lar.. I didn't kill it. It was cute. So I said 'Hi' to the bug. What an adventure for the night. It was fun....
.

Rainy Days

This picture was taken from my condo. It is raining heavily right now. It has been pouring almost daily. And because Astro is just behind my condo, we can't watch it even when there are heavy clouds. Silly!

Last Friday, I met up with some friends for dinner at KLCC. It was the first time I used the SMART tunnel. Impressive wor. It was raining heavily when I left my home at around 4pm that day. I took the Jln Tun Razak exit and was stuck at the exit, just for a while because it was already congested out at the main road during that time. Some of my friends who left house much later at 6.30pm was caught inside the tunnel for 30 minutes! Talking about SMART, really... how smart is our SMART tunnel?

I guess the management really need to impose a very very high toll fees to discourage people from using that tunnel. Else, it will be jammed packed inside during rush hour! Can you imagine being stuck inside the tunnel, without view and scenery and not knowing whats happening out there or not knowing where your own exact location is?? Torturous!

I also learnt from Kenny Ng's blog that during flood, they will not allow any cars to use the tunnel... if that's so, how to evacuate if you are already inside the tunnel, knowing that you will be stuck inside for more than 30 mins? Leave our cars behind and run for our lives using the emergency exit? Aiyoyor.. pls make sure your car is insured for this kind of disaster!

A Few Good Food

Mum made glutinous rice (lor mai fan) yesterday. Here is the pic... very yummy. I think it was 1 year plus ago since I last had this.

Just a while ago, we went to Serdang Perdana to have supper. I ordered 2 different types of crab. Steam crab;

... and chili crab;

Very nice. These are all available in Shanghai too, but of different taste. The ones back here are still better and tastier. I am glad my taste bud still prefers food back here for certain food. So far, I had chili pan mee, laksa, nasi lemak, chee cheong fun ... and they all taste good. :)
.
