Snow Storm

Thank god this is not in Shanghai. The worst snow storm in 50 years hits Wuhan, Hubei province of China.

Take a look...

Heavy snow and hating it!

It's snowing heavily in Shanghai and most part of China. They say the worst in the past 50 years. Many cities have blackouts due to fallen electricity cables because of the snow and many flights have been cancelled due to the slippery runway. Traffic and highways in chaos.

I walked like a penguin to work today. The floor is so slippery! Imagine walking on the skating rink with your work shoes!

I will be leaving Shanghai on Feb 1. I hope my flight will not be cancelled. I hate it! The floor looks so dirty, wet and slippery. It's nice having snow here, but snowing till this degree of messiness and problematic... I don't like.

Nasi Lemak Crave

My hubby is craving for my nasi lemak. It's still snowing out there and we're lazy to go out for food. Luckily, I bought this from Parkson again, Sambal Nasi Lemak.

I just used this and fry some ikan bilis in it and I managed to make simple, yet delicious nasi lemak ala makcik's nasi that we see selling on the street.

My hubby ate 2 big plates! He says this is better than the previous. The sambal is more spicy and the santan I used is more fragrant. Not enough this time to invite Winston to try. Next time, ok Win.

Now, cooking nasi lemak is as easy as 1-2-3 for me. I can have it done within an hour! Yay!
.

Early Bday for Winston

It's 2.15pm now, it's snowing heavily out there and I just woke up. It has been a stressful working week for me and it's finally at it's end. I needed to chill.

We had an early bday celebration for Winston last night. His bday falls on CNY and he will be alone in Shanghai, as all of us are going back except him.

Again, we went to old place, Party World to sing. This time, it's just me, Winston, Calvin, Nicole, Dr. Z and Elizebeth DL. It's the first time we go singing without karaoke king Eric. But we found new potential... Nicole and Dr. Z can sing!!

Due to bad planning, we bought 2 cakes for Winston. So we ate one as appetizer and another for dessert. Haha!

This is the appetizer cake:

Can see Win's happy face this time.

This is the dessert cake:

In the end, we can't finish either one. Ta pau both back for Win's breakfast and lunch..

Happy Early Birthday, Winston!

It's a SUCCESS!!

I cooked nasi lemak for the first time in my life... and it's a success! Yippee!!!

I have my cucumber...

Chopped onions for the sambal...

Fried ikan bilis... Thanks to Lily Ng for her teachings on how to fry ikan bilis using microwave, doing this is as easy as 1,2,3 and it's really crispy!

My fried kacang. I fried these a day ahead. Does not look good because I don't really know how to fry kacang. Can see some got burnt.

Hard boiled eggs. I managed not to overcook these eggs. As you can see, no obvious dark rings around the yolk. Oh.. maybe a little. Heheh.

I cooked 2 types of sambal. One is sambal belacan ikan bilis.

Another is the sambal udang.

And the end results..... Tadda!!!!

I cooked the nasi using coconut milk following the recipe. It was a success too! I just love it! For first timer, it's really good. My Hubby says it's a great success.

But in order to have an unbiased comment, I called Winston. Winston live in the same apartment at another block. I offered Winston a plate of my delicacy and here is what he has to say:

Hahahahah! Sibeh scared people see his leng chai face. FYI, I did not coerce him to do this. Ok.. I did, hahaha! He gave me a B+, which is very good lor. He says the sambal not spicy enough, and the nasi not enough lemak fragrant.

So, next time I need to pound chilli and add in for extra spicy. I also need to try another brand of coconut milk to add the extra fragrant to the nasi.

Overall, it's a success and I am happy!!!

I will try to cook Nasi Lemak

I found a sambal belacan chilli paste from Parkson today. I was so happy to see so many Malaysian products at Parkson. Thus, I will try to cook Nasi Lemak this Sunday.

I got the recipe from Lily's Wai Sek Hong blog. This blog makes me crave for local food. In 2 weeks' time, I will be able to eat my favourite pan mee and hokkien mee.

If my nasi lemak is a success, I will invite Elizebeth DL and Winston to tryout next time. If it's not, then forget it... but my Dear Hubby still have to finish all the nasi lemak irregardless of whether it's good or not. He is the one who asked me to cook.

Wish me luck. I will blog about it.

Copy Cat post

I am still at office.. and it's Friday! HELP!!!
Next week will be super busy as well. Elizebeth DL says she is busy but when I read her blog, still a lot of post. Sibeh...

I need to write too. I saw her post about the mugs she has in office and I was thinking, why this gal need so many mugs??? But then, when I looked at my table, I realised that I have 3 mugs as well. Heheh... this is a copy cat post. So, here go my mugs:

This is my Starbucks Coffee mug, but I have never used it for coffee. I only used it to keep the water warm and to refill my tea mug.

This is my water tumbler... to keep cool water for the summer; well.. also for winter too. Darn warm in office.

This, I have blogged about it. My Esprit mug for my daily dosage of green tea.

Kekeke... after this post I'm gonna pack and go home. Only me and my colleague here now. Office so quiet. OK... ciao!

All of 4.0s

First, we have Die Hard 4.0. Bruce Willis is much older... but much sexier. I love him more in 4.0 than in the very first Die Hard movie.

Then now, we have Rambo IV. Yulks.. I never liked Sylvester Stallone. He is so ugly and I think now he is too old for all this Rambo shits. Never liked Rambo anyway.

And later, we will have Indiana Jones IV, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I love Indiana Jones especially The Temple of Doom. I love Harrison Ford, but I think now he's really too old for Dr. Jones.

All these 4.0 movies are so popular these days. And my winner is still Bruce Willis in Die Hard 4.0... he is still so sexy. Haha...
I hope we will not have Sean Connery reliving the latest James Bond. OMG!!!
.

It's Snowing in Shanghai!

As I walked out of my apartment this morning, I thought it was drizzling. I was wondering why no one uses umbrella. Then I realised it's not rain; it's snowing!!!!
Shanghai has never snowed for 2 years. This is the first time it snowed sinced I was here. I was so happy today, walking slowly to work eventhough it's brutally cold out there!

Ok, updates... It has been a sibeh busy week for me. Next week is user acceptance testing week and I was working till 1am last night. @#$%^^&&*@#! Never been so hardworking before. Anyway, my goal is to get it done so I can have a great holiday back in our warm homeland this coming Feb.

Yes! My tickets are confirmed! I will be back in KL on Feb 1st - Feb 12th for CNY!! Yippeee!!!

Can't write much. I've got lotsa blogs to catch up when I have time later. Gotta run now... back to work. Darn!

I just love it!!!

Fug Tub Me

Last weekend, me and Elizebeth DL went to the Pearl market again to get our ‘goods’. Because we want to be Santa Claus this round when we go back to KL for CNY, we bought sooo-soooo many pearls. I think in total, more than RM1,000. RM1,000 can really buy a lot because the pearls and accessories here are like f*cking cheap!!!!

The last round we went, we bought a lot from a particular shop which gave us good discounts and good service. When Fern was here in Shanghai, I gave her the business card of the stall and she also bought damn a lot of barang from that stall.

Ok, so here’s the story. When I was there, I walked right up to a particular stall and was greeted by a guy who seems like he knows me very well. I started telling him that I wanted 24 necklace and earrings. Elizebeth DL wanted 10. Then I confirmed with him the old pricing, RMB30 for a double pearl necklace and RMB25 for single pearl necklace. The guy’s sister came and said no way! They cannot sell for so cheap and asked us to go look at other stalls. Damn it! So chuin.. we should have just walked away instantly but not sure why we did not. Then they finally gave up and agreed with the pricing. The woman was tulan… she say her pearls are very nice. Tiu la… nice my foot!

Anyway, halfway while they were preparing our pearls, I realized that we were at the wrong stall!!! OMG!!! I so so regret! Elizebeth DL keep saying “Fuck you la, Purple!” Yeah man… I also wanna fuck myself. Somemore have to see the seller’s tulan face. KNN! Buy so many from her still need to see her air muka. All my fault!

When we went back home, we compared the previous pearls we bought from the original stall and realized that those pearls were much, much bigger and nicer. I hand Elizebeth DL my handphone. She asked me “For what?” I told her to shove it up my ass. Elizebeth DL says “So small.. not enough… use the house phone!”. KNNCCB!!! Hahahaha.. We can’t stop laughing. I also realized that I have previously given Fern the wrong business card. So she actually bought her pearls from a different stall. Really fug tub! But luckily we still managed to pay the same pricing. If more expensive, I really tiu liao!

Bloody Fug Tub!

Bad start to working days

2008 has been a clumsy and bad start for my work days. On the first working day of 2008 last week, on 2 Feb, I was late for work.

When I reached office, I noticed the pants that I bought from HK were too loose. I suspect either the girl gave me the wrong size or I was too bloated in HK to try on the pants. Damn it! I did not realize this when I wore it in the morning. So I went home to wear a belt and return to office. Back in office, I realized after wearing the belt, when the pants are pulled up a bit, the pants became too short for me. Damn it again! Now it looked so ugly. Bad day!

Then in noon, I accidentally poured a whole mug of water on my desk. Thank God it did not splash on my laptop, else lagi cialat!

Today when I reached office, I noticed something not right again. Remember the Udderly Smooth handcream that I blogged about last year? I brought a new tube to work last month, and this morning, I realized the whole tube was squeezed out almost all of its contents. The f*cket or B*tch who did this still have the little black heart to leave me a little to use. They might as well just take the whole tube. Now I am left with an almost empty tube of hand cream. Damn it! This kind of things also can happen in China, and in my office! Next time, I will put a beautiful bottle of imported hand cream on my table and put poison inside! I swear I will do that.

The Best Countdown

First post for 2008 and a summary of my HK trip; Shopping, shopping, shopping and shopping!

Hong Kong - I only have 1 word to describe this city; Amazing! It's really, really amazing, especially on New Year’s Eve night. I have never seen such beautiful night scene. It's like musical fountain, except that it's musical buildings here in HK. The building lights and fireworks are synchronized to the music. I have never been to such a fantastic new year countdown.

First day of arrival on 30th Dec, I just leave my bags at the hotel lobby without going into my room and started to go shopping. I went to get all the stuffs that the girls in my office asked me to help them buy. Then I bought my own skincare and cosmetics. Elizebeth DL is right. The salesgirl in HK can really up sell. I bought more than I needed and over budget.

Passed by the ICAC building that we always see on TVB movies and I also queue up for about an hour to go up to The Peak just to take some pictures for remembrance and to post on my blog!

Beautiful view of Hong Kong Island from The Peak.

I stayed in Kowloon and up till midnight, the entire street was brightly lit and shopping malls and stores are still open for business.

On new year's eve, it was all about shopping again. I couldn't get a lot of stuffs as everywhere was on sale and there are many people. Feels just like Shanghai. People are crazily queuing up at Gucci and LV stores because of the discounts. I queued too just to get my colleague the wallet that she wanted. HKD1900 after discount for her Gucci wallet. Considered cheap. Saw our Star Cruise from the Ocean Terminal.

At night, I went to the Avenue of Stars for countdown. Holly Cow!! Really feels like China. It was so-so crowded! Like I've mentioned earlier, the night scenery in HK was really amazing. The fireworks display, the lights on the buildings, etc... this is the best new year's countdown I could remember.

On the last day, it was still about shopping. We still managed to go to the final shopping destination and Hubby bought his Timberland jacket. Then we went to the airport and it was shopping again! I saw a Coach bag and love it! But I did not get it because I thought it was a waste of money. Now I really regret! Darn!!! Should have bought it. It was only HKD2800. Cheap. I shop until I almost miss my flight. The gate was darn far and I have to run all the way to the gate as the final call for boarding was announced. Phew!

On board Dragon Air, there was both pleasant and unpleasant experience. Pleasant experience, I got both vanilla and chocolate Hagen Daaz ice cream because Hubby didn't want his. Yum!!!

Then I still wanted to shop from the in-flight shopping list. I wanted the Dior 5 set of lipsticks. But when it comes to my turn, the captain announced for the cabin crew to be seated for landing. The air-stewardess came to me and say “对不起,我们没有时间卖给你。谢谢。” (Sorry, we don't have time to sell to you. Thank you.) KNN! Don't even give me the chance to enjoy the very last minute of HK shopping experience.

I finally reached SH and it was like darn cold!! Last night temperature dropped till -2 degrees. Was busy unpacking and my first day at work in 2008 was a bit clumsy... shall blog about it later.

Overall, my HK trip was fantastic! It was a great way to end the already fantastic 2007 and a great start for 2008! Love it!!!

Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008

Time flies. I have written this sentence more than twice since I started this blog beginning of 2007. It's the time of the year where we talk about new year resolutions again.

2007 has been a year of multiple jobs for me. I was working on GE project, then Tesco, then US Roll support and now a permanent job at IR. It is also the year where I spent the least on air ticket back to KL and yet, I went back for 3 times this year. Two out of the three trips were free of charge. Hehe.

2007 is also a year of traveling for me. Apart from traveling to KL and SG, I have also set foot in Korea, Italy, France, US and soon, Hong Kong for the countdown.

So, what are my goals next year? I don't remember setting any goals for 2007. Perhaps I should not disclose my 2008 goals here as well, not that I have any, but if I do set some goals for next year, it will be personal and I better keep the list to myself.

This will probably be the last post of the year. I feel sad that 2007 is ending. It has been a great year.

Here's wishing everyone:

Happy New Year 2008!!!

May 2008 bring you lotsa joy, happiness, wealth, good health, and great sex!!

Saloon manager earns RMB46,700 per mth!!!

My friend Nicholas sent me this piece of news today. Below is an excerpt of the article:

SHANGHAI Portman Ritz Carlton has been ordered to pay 356,000 yuan (US$48,108) compensation to its former beauty salon manager, sacked this year for allegedly stealing 750 yuan.

The Jing'an District People's Court today announced the verdict for the compensation, and said evidence the hotel showed to the court was invalid.

The hotel asked an overseas investigation company to look into the manager, identified as Li Shengshi by the court, after it suspected Li of stealing.

Li, 43, began to work for the hotel as a stylist in August 1997 and became vice manager of the beauty salon in 1999. He was promoted to manager of the salon in 2002 with an average monthly salary of 46,700 yuan.

An average monthly salary of 46,700 yuan??? That's RM23,000 per mth!!! WTF??!!!! If the saloon managers in KL knows about this, all will be flocking to China! I am really, really underpaid now! I should consider changing jobs.

Another Sad Goodbye

As I write this, Eric is already on board flight China Eastern heading back to Kuala Lumpur. Unless he is coming here again for business trip, I don't think I will have another chance to sing with him in Shanghai. So far, I have lost 2 good friends who went back to home country. Danish and Eileen, and now, Eric. It's a terrible feeling and I still dread year end of 2009 where Elizebeth DL is going to leave as well.

Eric, although I don't know you for a very long time, but it feels like old friendship to me. I realised it's not the quantity, but most importantly, the quality of friendship. What we have shared for the past few months in SH is truly an amazing experience; The laugther, the joy, the sadness that we felt when anyone of us got into trouble or feeling unhappy. I am sure I am not the only one who felt this way.

All I can say to you now Eric, is that although I am sad that you have left, I also felt happy for you to have made a decision which you know it's best for yourself. I really, truly wish you a wonderful journey ahead in KL.

Friends come and go, but they will always remain in our hearts. See you again in KL, Eric!

Early X'mas Celebration

China does not have any official holiday for Xmas. So, we had an early Xmas celebration at my house yesterday, 22nd Dec. A whole bunch of Malaysians gathered at my apartment for makan-makan and gift exchange. We have Elizebeth DL and her Hubby, Eric, Winston, Yee Ning, Teresa, Dr. Tze, Lion King, me and my Hubby and special appearance of Shopaholicfern and her best friend, all the way from KL!!

The alcohol.

Our main motive is to actually knock out Eric that night. This occasion is also to have the last celebration in Shanghai for Eric. Eric is going back to KL for good. Eric, we will miss you lots!

The food.

We ordered some Thai, Japanese, Egg Tarts, KFC, Papa John's Pizza and some fried rice. Initially, I was quite worried that the food might not be enough. But it ended up more than enough. Guess this whole bunch are just small eaters.

The gifts.

I realised that guys don't wrap their gifts. So I have to quickly take some cellotape and seal the paper bags. Also, some don't even bother to wrap and just bought chocolates! Hahaha... these must be really last minute gift purchase.

Shopaholicfern is so sweet to bring me and Elizebeth DL a special gift. We really appreciate it. I have not seen Fern for 10 years! Yes... 10 fucking years!!! Fern told me the last time we met was back in 1997 when we double dated at the Kuala Selangor Fireflies Park. OMG!!! 10 fucking years!!!! I never thought I would see her in Shanghai! It was really good to be meeting an old friend in such a memorable occasion.

After makan, we started our gift exchange session. And because Eric is the organizer for this special occasion, he came up with a very complicated gift exchange idea. Don't want to explain it.. too complicated. But I wasn't satisfied because I didn't get to steal the gift that Winston picked. Hmmphh!!!

I got the most gifts that night. I have 3 exclusive gifts apart from the gift exchange ones. I got one Forever Friends teddy from Hubby, Elizebeth DL also me a candle holder, and Fern bought me a perfume. Sweet! I'm so happy!

After gift exchange, we played a game that is very common among the cheenas,The Murderer, 杀手。 I realised if we observe closely in this game, can really see some true, hidden behaviour of a person. Kinda scary if it doesn't turn out to be a good one.

We ended early to continue the next round of singing session. We went to Party World again for our karaoke madness. Again, we didn't get to finish the alcohol. Seems like no one drinks except me and Winston. Eric only took a little. Lousy la! Cannot kock him out!

We ate the last piece of dessert from the party, a Xmas cake brought by Dr. Tze. Only those who went singing gets to enjoy this cake. There are so many accessories on this cake and we felt it was such a waste to eat something so beautifully decorated.

Singing session ended at 2am. Too early for what was initially planned as an all-night-long event. Too bad. I think we were all tired as well. But it was a fun night indeed. Everyone was happy. Most importantly, Eric was happy. Right Eric? We will all miss you!

Again, MERRY X'MAS!!!
